Correct me if I'm wrong, but they DID take the base!

Commanded by Col. Bat Guano (If that was his REAL name!)

P.O.E. & O.P.E.

Leavenworth is fast becoming the center for Army simulations, and based on the continued screw-ups of STRICOM, the speed of that process should be increased exponentially. There is also talk of the War College relocating here.

I am wondering if this is going to result in more mud wrestling and bastard children.

You know it will. More Air force women in circulation to the other branches and the party is on.

Army and AF, okay. Navy and Marines, okay. Army and Marines, sharing a base? BIG problems.

All Army Posts named for Confederate Generals MUST be closed to eliminate the lingering effects of slavery. It's for the children. It's Bush's fault. < /sarcasm >

I can't believe Ft We-gotcha is at risk.

Not enough water to support the base facilities.

Hog wash, the post is at the foot of the Huachuca Mtns with a much milder climate than most of S. AZ and ample water if developed properly.

I agree with your assessment of Rock Island. One thing that works against RIA is that it is the logisitics support center for armaments. The R&D and project management is at Picatinny. Speculation is that one or the other will move to consolidate. Some even speculate that both will move.

I think Redstone Arsenal near Huntsville, AL will be a big winner gaining maybe 5000 jobs. It's in a low cost area, has plenty of area, is very pro-military, and in a high tech area.

I wouldn't be surprised if Picatinny, Rock Island, and the communications work at Fort Monmouth move to Redstone.

In the last BRAC, the Aviation Command moved to Redstone. This was very successful and demonstrates that Redstone can handle a relocation.

From Defense Link:

"The Department of Defense will hold a press briefing Friday, May 13, at 10:30 a.m. EDT to announce Secretary Rumsfeld's recommendations for base realignment and closures (BRAC). The session will be held in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E579."
