Activists Urge Homosexuals to Wear 'Rainbow Sash' at Sunday Mass

(CNSNews.com) - A group of homosexual activists plan to protest Mass at Catholic churches nationwide Sunday in opposition to the church's stance on homosexuality.

The group, Rainbow Sash, explained on its website that they "stand opposed to homophobia at the Eucharistic table" and "make no apologies for God's gift of our sexuality." The group encourages its members to wear the Rainbow Sash in a parish or cathedral as "an act of faith in the Lord, who works through weakness."

"This year, Rainbow Sash has upped the ante," Catholic League President William Donohue said in a statement. He pointed to a May 2 press release in which the group said that the purpose of the protest is to 'counter the lies that Pope Benedict XVI is promoting about our community' and called the new pope an 'aggressive homophobe.'

"By calling the pope a liar and a homophobe, Rainbow Sash has finally taken off its mask. We look for them to get what they want-to be denied Communion. We also hope the cops are standing by. To exploit the Mass for political purposes is obscene, but it is what we have come to expect from the likes of Rainbow Sash," said Donohue.

Cardinal McCarrick of Washington, D.C. and Cardinal George of Chicago banned Rainbow Sash members from receiving the Eucharist last year, according to Donohue. Cardinal Mahony of Los Angeles, Archbishop Flynn of St. Paul and Minneapolis and Bishop Clark of Rochester, New York did not ban them, Donohue noted.

But this year Archbishop Flynn has told Rainbow Sash that they will be banned, said Donohue. "He explicitly said that 'the Vatican has communicated to me that it does indeed consider the wearing of the Rainbow Sash during reception of Communion to be unacceptable, a directive I believe all Bishops will adhere to,'" added Donohue.

This is an opportunity to see if the new pope means what he said: Purge the church of homosexuality. I WILL be watching.

I don't suppose it ever occurred to the drama queens to just leave the Catholic Church. Then again, they couldn't throw a swishy snitfit by doing that.

If they all wear the sash, it'll make spotting them much easier. Then you know who to run off.

These "Rainbow Sash" clowns have tried this for the past few years in Australia. On each occasion, they've been shown the door.

YEAH, really....what a stupid, idiotic thing to do.....go to church to display your sexuality......if someone shows up at our Church with a sash, I imagine our Preacher would find a way to work his "marriage between a man and a woman" words in, fer sure!!!! (Conservative Presbyterian).

I am so tired of this kind of nonsense.

If you don't like the teachings of the church, take it up with the Lord, and PRAY PRAY PRAY that you are right, because the Lord will spit you out if you are wrong.

Moreover, if you don't like the teachings of the church, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

God bless the Roman Catholic Church.

I'm not much of a religious sort, but will echo this guy's sentiments.

And this oral excrement literally turned my stomach:

make no apologies for God's gift of our sexuality

At such moments, it's small comfort to understand that homos are biologically self-negating...

This practicing conservative Catholic who is fed up with moral relativism hopes word will be issued tomorrow from the Diocese here that all sash wearers and others showing signs of solidarity with these perverts will be denied Communion and immediately excommunicated.

I'd take great pleasure walking into Mass on future Sundays knowing that I'm among others who believe in moral absolutes.

Great, and those proudly practicing incest can wear checkered sashes and those who are proudly practicing adultry can wear red sashes, and those who are proudly stealing from others can wear green sashes. It is one thing to be a sinner. It is another to be openly unrepentent and to insist that the church happily support your sinning.

These people are nothing but adolescent storm troopers, wearing rainbow colors instead of the more appropriate brown shirts with pink swastikas. They are rude, arrogant, and lacking of any reverence for their Church. In a more civilized society than ours, they would all get a swift kick on their flaming tushies out the church door. But our society panders unfortunately to louts and thugs like these.

I have never understood why homosexuals go to church or become part of it. It defies their own ideology of what is except able and what is considered a sin.

The only thing I can think of is they're hoping the church will change its beliefs, or they think they can make the church except what they think is exceptable. Either way it attempts to destroy the religious faith and those faithful to it.

Yes, that would be the approach taken by Vicki Gene, the ridiculous excuse for a bishop in NH. We all know how well that has gone.
