The French, Russians and the Germans can't afford their own governments, let alone the UN. Start cutting the funding and watch it collapse!

And it's not just the funding we provide to the UN itself, but also its affiliated agencies, such as the IMF and World Bank. These things would go complete belly-up without us.

So, for an analogy - if some members of the Neighborhood Watch committee are corrupt and incompetent - you would rather surrender to the gangs and street hoodlums, than use whatever power & influence you currently have?
Remember, you can't move - because this is the only neighborhood.
