Even if it was 10,000, it's not that significant a number - and let's be blunt - they might as well be discharged (dishonorable or general or whatever the military is doing nowadays), because most people would not want to serve besides these folks.
It's like the crappy "there's going to be a draft" stories - nobody in today's military wants to serve next to somebody who is only in the military because it was that or jail or Canada.
