...."hope that next time the U.S. will elect a president who will end large-scale military operations and return to the practice followed by the Clinton administration of responding to terrorist acts by trying to bring the individuals responsible to justice."

OOPS! The author meant to say "return to the practice followed by the Clinton Administration of ignoring terrorist acts whenever possible, or siccing lawyers on them if you can't ignore them and they accidentally get caught."

The book"Unrestricted Warfare" should be required reading in the DOD and Congress. It is very good and expilictly describes how they will take us down.

the Chinese – in their quest to create a multipolar world – may have written the book on terrorism…literally.

Many of the people educating America’s children today came of age during the protests against the Vietnam War, and by and large believe that all war is wrong.

Mao had it together it formulating tactics for unconventional war. He viewed war – as Chinese writers long before him – as more than a single faceted operation, but as involving all aspects of society. Westerners have used deception and propaganda in a very limited way. Mao saw these as equal to battalions in the field. Walter Cronkite was worth several divisions of well armed and trained soldiers in the field – and he was a heck of a lot cheaper for the Communists to maintain. The effect on our media has lasted far longer and has been far stronger than the affect of any AK-47 or RPG.
I watched the earlier news clips of Coalition forces in close combat with the Iraqi terrorists. American and British troops using their sights and fire and maneuver to restrict collateral damage. Terrorists setting up and firing mortars without aiming stakes or sights. Terrorists launching barrages of RPGs in the general direction of our forces. Terrorists firing their AK-47s on full auto from the hip. TV news voiceover blaming all the resultant damage on us.

Maybe it’s time we read the Little Red Book?

It's available on Amazon.

They're right. Although the US cannot be defeated militarily in conventional warfare in the near term, we CAN be weakened over time to the point where we CAN be defeated.

We can only support a good military as long as our economy is strong. Do enough long-term damage to our economy, and the military will not be able to get budgeted. Unrestricted illegal immigration increasing welfare costs, H1B's killing tech sector salaries, outsourcing to Asia, all will ultimately devastate the middle class that pays the taxes that support the government

Duh! Been saying this for years, so have many other more brilliant military minds than mine, like General Al Grey, former Commandant USMC.

I can just hear the response of the academic left:

It's not an analogy. He's saying that the children of the Viet Nam era, who were against the war, have been permeating our society with the idea that all war is wrong no matter the situation. Haven't you seen the pacification of America recently. He doesn't say that all of them are like this but enough have gotten into the education system and legal system to be able to villify anyone who advocates striking first before any real damage can be done. Just look at the millions of idiot students who protested the Iraq war. Sure, there were rallies in support of the troops but there weren't any that I can recall that directly supported the war.

I’ve bookmarked it to read the rest later.

For several thousand years, the three indispensable "hardware" elements of any war have been soldiers, weapons and a battlefield. Running through them all has been the "software" element of warfare: its purposefulness.

Something we pay little attention to. We come up with a reasonable sounding purpose to wage war – than assume the job is done and forget about it. Reasons must be kept simple, basic and highly moral.

Moreover, when a nation state or national armed force, (which adheres to certain rules and will only use limited force to obtain a limited goal), faces off with one of these types of organizations, (which never observe any rules and which are not afraid to fight an unlimited war using unlimited means), it will often prove very difficult for the nation state or national armed force to gain the upper hand.

We will forever play by the rules – we aren’t allowed to "lower ourselves to the level of the terrorist". We have to maintain the high moral ground. Every time we gain ground by taking out a high level terrorist operative, there are protests. Special Operations forces are made heroes - until they conduct a successful special operation.

Very Interesting!

This ping list is not author-specific for articles I'd like to share. Some for perfect moral clarity, some for provocative thoughts; or simply interesting articles I'd hate to miss myself. (I don't have to agree with the author 100% to feel the need to share an article.) I will try not to abuse the ping list and not to annoy you too much, but on some days there is more of good stuff that is worthy attention. You can see the list of articles I pinged to lately on my page. I keep separate PING lists for my favorite authors Victor Davis Hanson, Lee Harris, David Warren, Orson Scott Card. You are welcome in or out, just freepmail me (and note which PING list you are talking about).

OSAMA BIN LADEN, " I WILL DESTROY CHINA..."

In a 2001, Al-Jazeera radio interview, OSAMA said that " I will destroy China, the World's second power, after I had destroyed the US"

More than 3000 Separatist terrorists from the Xinjiang "East Turkestan " Uighurs Movement, were and are being trained by Al-Qieda an they had bombed schoolbuses in China killing many Chinese school-children

China is fighting a WAR against the JIHAD of the Al-Qieda and their Uighurs allies
