Sounds like Jasmine wants her own iPod, can't get daddy to buy her one, so she's taking it out on the pod people.

It's pretty damned pathetic what gets passed off as "journalism" these days, isn't it?

It is a fad, as were the Walkmans, albeit one with legs. Methinks the biggest danger is not this obsession thing, but the damage that kids will be doing to their hearing cranking them up....

I certainly do see an iPod obession here but it isn't the iPod owners that I'm talking about...

Looks like you could use those same reasons for anything - including FR?

So this kid is upset because she didn't get an iPOD.
Give me a break, not everyone gets what they want.
This girl should learn that jealousy is a sin.
All of her little excuses apply to walkmans, mp3 players, hell, even cell phones or TV's or whatever.
Envy is a sin, but working at a job is not.

Dear Jasmine,
Thanks for sharing. The person who is now spending more time with his or her iPod than with you just doesn't like you. If it hadn't been the iPod, it would've been a new satellite dish and a 180 channel programming package. Or something else, anything else, so s/he wouldn't have to spend so much time with you. Get over it and move on.
Signed,
Aunt Edna, Advice for the Lovelorn

Maybe Jasmine can get a job when she graduates from high school, and save up for her very own iPod.

>This
creepy "iPod obsession" ...
A couple weeks back,
I visited the Apple
store in Chicago.
I got there before
it opened, and about ten
other people were
waiting to get in
so I couldn't see the hours
posted on the door.
And I couldn't ask
anyone when they opened
because everyone
stand there had plugs
wired to their ears and was zoned
to iPod music.
It was like some chic
zombie Dawn of the Dead scene.
Pretty, but creepy.

Jasmine's little opinions might count for more when her complexion clears up.

I drove four teenaged girls, including my daughter, from Tempe to a rowing regatta in San Diego. My daughter was concerned that she'd never get the girls to agree on what should be played on the car stereo. Turns out her fears were unfounded, however, because each of the girls had her own personal player (only 2 of 4 were iPods, but this was last year).
Having an iPod means never having to put up with someone else's musical tastes.

This author has I-Pod envy, no doubt about it.
