There's a Beretta store in the Park Cities area of Dallas that had a $30,000 shotgun on display until relatively recently. Someone bought it.

New Haven Arms Henry's Repeating Rifle .44 RF New Haven Arms Henry's Repeating Rifle .44 rimfire. 25" barrel with iron ladder sight. Records indicate that this rifle was issued to a Pvt. C. Hunter of Co.C 3rd U.S. Veteran Volunteer Infantry. The rifle was issued about May 13, 1865, while they were stationed at Camp Stoneman near District of Columbia. Pvt. Hunter joined the 3rd Vet. Vol. Inf. on March 9,1865 at Philidelphia,PA. He was AWOL from Sept. 22 till Oct. 26,1865 and was discharged April12,1866, records indicate when he was discharged from Springfield IL., he retained the rifle. Information on the rifle was found in the Company and Regimental books of the 3rd. U.S. Vet. Vol. Inf. which are presently stored in the National Archives. |
