What I am wondering is....Why did they have them stored at a facility which only needed a padlock to begin with.
But yeah....the padlock still being there...makes one wonder.
Cabela's should have waited til this weekend to bring them in. Then they could have stored that at the new store.
My guess is that they stored the guns in a standard sort of "self storage" place (someone got cheap). Which is *really* stupid, since there are any number of truly secure storage warehouses and such in the DFW area.
Such facilities are a bit more expensive than a good self-storage unit, but they have much higher security restrictions, good insurance, and armed guards on patrol. Guess Cabelas didn't see the point and tried "security through obscurity" with predictable results.
