The Washington Times celebrated its 23rd anniversary yesterday with cake and champagne served to its employees at a midafternoon assembly, as its executives announced a substantial gain in audited circulation in the face of a national trend of declining U.S. newspaper numbers. For the six-month period ending March 31, the newspaper's daily circulation from Monday through Friday climbed to 103,017 -- an increase of nearly 3 percent over the similar period last year, according to Fas-Fax, the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) report of publishers' estimates.

Washington Times- conservative by far. Very enjoyable reading.

Washington Post-very smug and liberal, hates Bush, mouthpiece of the Democratics.

Delighted to be one of the 3% who dropped the Post & picked up the Times. Four pages of (great) editorials can't be beat.

Lesseee..... the NYT is dying. The LA Times is dying. CBS is dying. Newsweek is dying.

But Fox is growing. The Washington Times is growing.

Must just all be random fluctuations.

Y'see.

You would think the liberal papers would see what Fox News has done and figure it out, the people want conservative news.

Washington Times: up 3%
Washington Post: down almost 3%

And, according to Buchanan, the age of conservatism is dead.

Buchananite conservatism is dead!

Buchananism is alive and well. And very profitable, thank you.

But it ain't conservatism.

the people want conservative news.

Actually, the people want unbiased news. If that isn't possible, then at least have voices from both sides.

Fox only seems conservative because all of the other news services are so liberal.

The age of the morality police conservatism which is a large part of what Buchanan considers "true conservatism" is dead.

I think we want honest news without slanting and misleading. People figure this out. Main stream media does not.

The only problem concerning unbiased news that you mentioned is what you mean by unbiased news.
The major news network have said they are unbiased.
They really believe their liberal slant is unbiased.
The liberals think that Fox News is biased because they write from a conservative viewpoint.
Conservatives think the major network news are biased because they write from a liberal view.

I read the Times from the beginning. It replaced The Washington Star that had gone out of business.

The Times was thrashed repeatedly as "that Moonie Paper" with a prediction of a one year life span. I can remember buying it at local 7-11's and getting looks of " you are buying THAT paper."
Hated to have missed the celebration, but as soon I get the cataract removed from my left eye, I will renew my subscription.

If I could figure out a way to pay for the Washington Times, I would. It's THAT good.

Yes, and that was a hurdle for me before I subscribed. But the Moonies don't have much of a presence in the US these days, and they've never exercised editorial control over the paper.
