W may have been thinking of this lady and of her fellow judge Janice Rogers Brown. Both of them have been waiting four years for confirmation, and have been subjected to numerous smears and attacks from the left during that time.
Texas Supreme Court Judge Priscilla Owen arrives at the White House, Tuesday, May 17, 2005, to meet with President Bush and California judge Janice Rogers Brown. The Senate's top leaders have ended their attempt to find a compromise on President Bush's stalled judicial nominees, but other members continued to work on a possible deal to clear five blocked appeals court appointees and end threats to change the long-standing filibuster rules. Finally the debate begins!
If Frist has any presidential ambitions, this is his make or break moment.
If he caves to the Dems, fails to rally his 55 vote majority, or doesn't move to the nuclear option (all else failing to get a vote for our judges), then he hasn't got a prayer of ever being considered seriously for leadership of the whole U.S.
