Newsweek vs. the White House, according to ABC News' Terry Moran.
Radio Blogger ^ | 5/18/05 | Hugh Hewitt / Terry Moran

Posted on 05/18/2005 8:21:32 PM PDT by Valin

We've talked about the bogus Newsweek desecration story for several days now, and so has the White House press corps. Yesterday, in the White House Press Room, Scott McClellan took a question about Newsweek, and said, in essence, that Newsweek ought to do all it can to correct some of the damage they did with their bogus story. Terry Moran, White House correspondent for ABC News, replied, saying that it sounded to him like Scott was trying to be the editor of Newsweek. Elizabeth Bumiller of the New York Times later quipped, very sarcastically, that maybe Scott wanted her to do a story that said how great the military was. Hugh was pretty exercised, played the audio on the show, and asked me to try to reach both Moran and Bumiller. Terry, to his credit, returned the call, and agreed to come on for a segment. It was a heated exchange, and it turned into almost three segments. Without further adieu, here's the interview:

Even if they did that, it would be too late at this point. Lives are lost and the propaganda has already spun that the White House is involved in changing the story.

Newsweek missed any shot of righting the wrong.

They NEED to be held accountable. Treason, accessory to murder, anything along these lines.

This isn't the first media report to be retracted this war.

The US Embassy pushed for Egyptian papers and other that ran internet sex photos as "evidence" of "rape" at "Abu Ghrab" to undo the harm of their false reports.

Notice how the media actively suppresses any reports of the good being done in Iraq and the benchmarks that are being met.

The MSM is a propaganda mill.

Maybe it was a Newsweek magazine the reporter saw being flushed down the toilet -- which offended him so greatly, because he thinks the the magazine is right up there with all those other holy books written by the messiahs.

What's insulting and ironic is that the media "plays dumb" and acts like they don't want to spout propaganda fed to them by the administration. They are already doing this for the administration's enemies.

Same idea, wrong team.

Yup.

Hence the purpose of FR and bloggers.

Yes ABC, we fully understand that you are very anti-USA during time of war. Now, STFU and go away.

With all of the bogus reporting by Blair and others at the NYT, they still claim to be a Newspaper of Record. They may have many affiliates, distribute many newspapers and control many types of media, but their claim to fame as an instution of record rings hollow.

They have failed to be truthful in their reporting and in the hiring of their reporters. They certainly are a paper of "RECORD" allright!

I think the American media is starting to become aware just how hated they are by their fellow citizens. How do you function knowing that you are despised?

Suppressing what?

Nobody does any good but media reporters and celebrities. Hold on there, I think one is about to make an announcement of the money they're going to raise to donate to some noble, selfless cause they're honorary campaign chair of.

Why can't the rest of us be more like them?

BINGO, Terry Moran is no different than those clueless Democrats in the Senate who think that Justice's Owen and Rogers-Brown are out of the "Mainstream" when the got 84% and 76% of the votes in their home states respectively.

I want that useless demagogue Harry Reid to explain to the American people how 16% and 24% of the voters in Texas and California represent the "mainstream"

The mudslinging by these obstructionist bastards has resulted in their decline in the past 2 elections and they still haven't learned. What kills me is the mental midgets like Chrissy Matthews who think the current dissatisfaction with the Congress is a good thing :-) Chrissy was all giddy about this latest Poll, and compared the current climate to 1994 when the Democrats lost big..... :-)

ROFLMAO, The poll shows that the public is dissatisfied with the obstructionist. How could anybody say they are satisfied with the democrats? What have they offered? What have they done? the answer is NOTHING

I was able to catch a bit of this interview tonight, and I really wonder if they do. I mean REALLY understand in their heart, Moran said he did, but then in the next couple of answers shows that he doesn't.

"Sen. Boxer: 'Nuclear Option' Can Hurt Newspapers, Too Barbara Boxer"

Babs is an idiot. She doesn't understand that the Dems' "minority in the Congress" means the Dems' lost - shut up.

So, Elizabeth, you must not think our military is great. (Otherwise, why would it pain you so much to write positively about our armed forces? Would you feel you were betraying your "true" feelings--hatred for our men in women in uniform?)

I love when he pulls the media variant of "Do you know who I am"--asking Hewitt if he'd ever been to Iraq. Hewitt says one needn't have been there to comment on the media coverage and points out that he did work in the WH and perhaps that's a more significant qualification for covering it. LOL

I think he agreed to the interview because he is being excoriated for his diva performance at the presser yesterday.
