THERE is very little activity on most farms seized from former white farmers. The government is planning to hand over the farms to the Chinese in a bid to revive the agriculture sector.

The Zimbabwe government is planning to offer former white farms for free to Chinese state-owned firms in a desperate bid to revive the key agricultural sector, ZimOnline has learnt. This is madness...

How could any party, government or private, risk capital or staff in Zimbabwe? No matter what a contract says, Mugabe can simply take whatever he wants whenever he wants.

I guess they cant give this land back to the farmers they stole it from because white farmers are too smart to believe anything this double dealing pack of killers has to say.

White farmers - bad
Slightly Off-White farmers - good
This is just as silly as the "four legs good, two legs bad" claim that morphed around to suit the pigs in Animal Farm. Orwell truly had the Communists pegged. It seems so obviously corrupt to me I can't understand why the rest of the world consistently falls for it.
Is there just a tendency to believe that the corruption will someday turn out in their benefit?

Food as a weapon?
Perhaps the chinese are moving in to be the ones to control africa through food production.

Given the many U.S. cities run into the ground by the radical leftist politics of big city democrats... could this be in the card for those cities? Red flags flying over Detroit, Newark etc.

"a new "look-East" policy after falling out with the West because of its poor human rights record, "
Good to know that champion of "human rights", China, is willing to assist for "the people".

The Chinese do well where ever they go
though when they set up their corperate farms
will they hire native labor?....
And once the farms are back up and running how long
before the dictator takes them back..?

This begins the settlement of Africa by the Chinese. From Sudan to South Africa, the Chinese are moving in, and they won't be moving out. In 100 years, there will be more Chinese than Africans in Africa.

this is a joke, right? the Chinese, state owned farms are the least productive sector of the Chinese agricultural economy... China feeds itself by and large because the Red Chinese government loosened its grip on agriculture and allowed small "kulaks" to supply city markets.

I've heard it said that the return of Colonialism would be the only thing to save and right Africa. The West of course is too guilt ridden to do such a thing.
It looks like China may be the willing Colonial power.

Mugabe is a Marxist and probably an old time KGB "asset." Remember that both the old Soviet Union and China were active in sub-Saharan Africa in the Cold War era, especially Angola and Mozambique. China may well have intentions of establishing a de facto colonial relationship with Zimbabwe and South Africa, especially when the latter has been "ethnically cleansed" of whites as Zimbabwe has.

Getting rid of those "white racists" and bringing in the Chinese? As if they aren't given to racial condescension!
This is a move that totally surprised me.

Given that the policies of the glorious People's Republic resulted in the starvation of 35 million Chinese in the 60's this oughta be a great deal for Zimbabwe.

If your reading this article, you may be interested in China's expansion right at the U.S. doorstep. Here's the FR thread:
U.S. Watches As China Woos Caribbean
Note that China has "opened a $114 million container port in Freeport", Bahamas. Freeport is 56 miles from the US. Someone should ask Senator Chuckie Cheese Schumer, how billions of dollars in U.S. port security can safeguard us from nuclear devices in China's container port in Freeport.
