[They could underscore the extraordinary steps the American military has taken to ensure the Koran is treated respectfully]

According to the "Old Media", it is not only an American's Constitutional right to flush a Bible down a toilet (if you can find a Bible small enough to fit down a U.S. government mandated mini-flush toilet) but it is also an American's duty to express shock and outrage whenever an elected official quotes from it.

On the other hand, if a terrorist is captured in a war zone with a Koran on his person and that Holy Book is treated with anything other than fawning reverence by the U.S. military, then according to the same "Old Media", the United States represents the religious zealotry determined to exterminate all non-Christians from the world.

Newsweek lied. People died.

>>Can you imagine how many additional useless pages the Constitution would contain if the Framers had been as vacuous as this questioner? Is this person suggesting that every place the Constitution specifies a certain power it must contain an explicit clause to restate the obvious for the IQ-challenged?<<

Like the right to be left alone unless you are hurting someone else? or the right to privacy?

I think are a lot of things weren't spelled out the constitution that are a great deal more obvious that up or down votes in the senate.
