How do you determine if the "illegals" are actually illegals.
The same way the identity of bail jumpers is confirmed.
Apples and oranges. A bail jumper is a known identifiable person who has committed a crime. You can look for that specific person and arrest him based on reasonable suspicion that the person looks like the bail jumper, acts like the bail jumper and smells like the bail jumper. As far as a potential illegal alien, it is not reasonably known that the person is an illegal alien until you identify him by asking them for "his papers".
How else would you do it??
It would work.
You have not demonstrated such.
What war are you saying has been declared by Congress???
Read the thread. Figure it out.
Note: I listened to the WWII Congressional Declaration of War via radio in December 1941.
Nonsequitur.
No, but you need an ID to use publicly regulated transportation. He needs to get his head out of his arse and learn to live with it. He can still drive his own car or walk wherever he wants without showing an ID, so put on the walking shoes and get at it.
Yeah, and I suppose that he would also raise hell if he tried to enter a nuclear power plant or a military weapons storage area and they asked for an ID. After all, they are "public" property.
He doesn't need permission to travel, he needs permission and ID to board publicly regulated privately owned transportation. Using his logic, he has the right to walk into your business or home and use whatever facilities he wants because it is "a free country" and you would be restricting his freedom of movement and travel if you stopped him.

Why Do Presidents Now Declare War Instead of Congress? ... Case Study ... War of 1812
...The below is excerpted from the above web page...
" Subsequent to 1812, Congress exercised its war powers five times: against Mexico in 1846; Spain in 1898; Germany in 1917; and, within three days of each other, against Germany and Japan in 1941. On each occasion, Congress acted in response to a presidents war message and all votes were close to unanimous, save the House of Representatives 373 to 50 vote to enter World War I. But Congress still took its power to declare war seriously. By God, one senator scolded McKinleys war supporters in 1898, dont your President know where the war-declaring power is lodged?
After World War II, came (1) Korea, (2) Vietnam, (3) Desert Storm, and of course, now (4) Iraq. Arthur Schlesinger, Jr. chronicled the escalation of presidential power in the first two conflicts in The Imperial Presidency. In all four, Congress was neither asked by the respective presidents to issue a declaration of war nor did it initiate one on its own. In each instance, Congress essentially surrendered its war powers to the executive branch. "

Happy to know that you're one of the good guys. I wonder how common this over sight takes place.
I was always required to show proof of ID for myself as well as my entire family.
Joint Resolution to Authorize the Use of United States Armed Forces Against Iraq
Buddy, Congress did declare war in Iraq.
Lemme make a wild amazing prediction.
He wont be allowed on the plane.
An illegal leaves an obvious trail of clues: drives, but no license, works, but the employer can't verify citizenship, has no bank account, prepaid mobile phone with no fixed address, etc.
Any PI could reliably sniff out 90% of illegals. And heck, because I'm a nice guy, any illegal that has succeeded in buying a house can stay. They got hustle.
The fact remains, we DON'T need to be a surveillance state.
What is the result of building a surveillance state? It's military recruitment that is 8000 below quota. Our intrusive government can go to hell, or the bureaucrats snooping on me can fight for their own gravy train. I don't care, and my kids ain't goin'.
What a magnificently ignorant statement. To you, any history before the modern Nixonian overreach of federal law enforcement is "Nonsequitur." Out effin' standing!
I don't think he should be arrested. The TSA folks can keep him off the plane and after it has departed just ignore the guy.
What a lot of my fellow Libertarians don't realize is that only if we win this war, and as decisively as we did in 1945, will we be able to get our Constitution back.
I drove to Calif. 2 years ago, down I-15. It is my understanding that most of the land that borders I-15 from Montana down to California is public land. Yet, several hundred yards off the freeway (both sides), the entire 1500 miles, is barbed wire. You - the public - are not allowed to enter that public property. You - the public - are funneled to these ready made anti-terror checkpoints.
Its coming.

He will have to remove his head when they do that full cavity search. A person should pick his fights carefully....and this ain't it Mr. Kanning. Your opponant has a BIG advantage
Good point, but Libertarians who keep drinking Lew Rockwell's Kool-Aid would keep the security state in force forever as our only "defense" against terrorism.

" However, in every instance since the act was passed, the President has requested and received authorization for the use of force (though not a formal declaration of war) consistent with the provisions of the resolution. "

.....Great thread.....
* My son in Southern California keeps asking when I will fly down to visit and I tell him, "When I do not have to take my shoes off."
* When asked for ID I show my: United States Uniformed Services Identification Card, DD FORM 2, (RETIRED).
What a magnificently ignorant statement. To you, any history before the modern Nixonian overreach of federal law enforcement is "Nonsequitur." Out effin' standing!
You take me out of context. The subject was about a declaration of war. The poster said that he witnessed the declaration of war for WWII. The poster implied that one has to listen to the WWII Congressional Declaration of War to understand what a constitutional declaration of war is.
It doesn't logically follow that one has to witness the declaration of war in WWII to be able to compare the declaration of war for Iraq to what is required by the Constitution.
That is a non sequitur.
You are a dunce.
An illegal leaves an obvious trail of clues: drives, but no license, works, but the employer can't verify citizenship, has no bank account, prepaid mobile phone with no fixed address, etc.
How do you know if a person driving a car who is not exhibiting criminal behavior is an illegal alien who doesn't have a drivers license? Or are we randomly stopping people and asking for papers? Your response is stoopid (sic).
BTW, last I heard, employers who ask for citizenship papers as proof, are subject to law suits.
And heck, because I'm a nice guy,
Yeah, you're mister nice guy aren't you.
