If everyone is mad as hell about illegals, then how come they keep electing pro-immigration politicians?
Why do those who are mad at illegal immigrants keep voting in pro-immigrant politicians?
Because for many Mexican-Americans,as for many other ethnic groups,they tend to cling together when one of"theirs"is perceived to be under attack.True,many legals are upset at the flood of illegals which undermines their wage gains and exacerbates tensions,brings more gang activity,etc.
HOWEVER,they tend to band together when they see the opposition to the illegals has a mostly white face-The Minutemen,SOS,FAIR,etc.
I truly believe the credibility of these anti-illegal groups would be much enhanced if they were not almost all white in composition.Where are the blacks,the Asians and the legal Mexican immigrants at these protests?The absence of these groups makes it seem like a white-Mexican issue and that dynamic can have tragic consequences.
Because everyone isn't mad as hell. People support illegal immigration. That's why they elect these politicians. The battle to stop la reconquista has been lost before it even began. People here feel to "guilty' for past racist injustices to ever be able to stand up to this obvious invasion. Political correctness will prevent any meaningful enforcement of current immigration laws, let alone enactment of newer ones. You either support illegal immigration, or you are a hateful racist. No other options in today's society. I guess that means I am a hateful racist.
I don't know about other states, but those in California who are mad as hell about illegals are voting with their feet. They are leaving California (or at least Los Angeles) in droves. (Now many are finding that their new neighborhoods are being invaded, as well. They can run from this invasion, but they cannot hide.)
Besides, in this particular election, we had no choice. Hahn is the one who proudly proclaimed that Los Angeles is "a Mexican city." He isn't much better than Villaraigosa.
