I don't think I'm ever going to get over Estrada's withdrawal.

Bah! Estrada was nothing compared to what the "Gang of Four" (Biden - Leahy - Kennedy - Metzenbaum) did to Bob Bork -- with the decisive assistance of the current Chairman of the Judiciary Committee. At least Arlen did fight for Clarence Thomas.

I don't disagree, however, I was a child when Bork went down due to their manuverings.

In my memory it is Estrada, not Bork, that inspires a personalized sense of loss. This would be different for those of age to be affected by what happened to Bork. I do recall some of what Thomas went through, but in end he was confirmed.

I thought at the time that Specter's going to bat for Thomas was a CYA move to make up for his opposition to Bork.
Did you know that Specter was the lawyer on the Warren Commission staff that came up with the Magic Bullet Theory?
