I assume that an (unstated) premise of the agreement is that the 7 "Republicans" have agreed NOT to vote for removing the right to filibuster. Why else would the Dems go for it? Just to save face?

That's how betrayal happens. In secret. In the dark.

Sure the repubs agreed not to nuke the filibuster option. But they even stated during thier press conference that the reserve the right to nuke it if the dems break the deal and support a filibuster.

This deal is structured so that we don't have to nuke it unless we need to... and we won't need to unless the dems break their end of the bargain first.

It is not a bad deal. We got 3 conservative judges, and we'll get up or down votes on the others... or we nuke them just like we'd planned on doing tomorrow.

Reid is the guy in trouble (even if he doesn't want to think so)... he just had 7 of his 44 sign an agreement not to support his filibusters. And if those 7 change their minds.... it will be political suicide.
