I'm not sure this is over. Senator Frist spoke on the floor of the Senate and repeated his demand of an up or down vote. Clearly the Dems plan to let Owens gain cloture tomorrow. Frist should bring up Saud next and force their hand. I have contributed heavily to the Republican party, enough to be invited to DC to meet the President. I have informed the GOP my wallet is closed until this is resolved in our favor!
I think this is a brilliant tactic.
This debate is about the nomination of Owen. The Democrats agreed to support cloture on Owen, Brown, and Pryor, but Frist doesn't have to bring them up in that order. Let's see how long it takes the Democrats to find and "extremist" judge. Let's go another round of prolonged debates while this agreement is still fresh in people's minds.
