O.K., this is ridiculous. I am too upset to do it, but I know some really quick Freeper could find the stats for number of people put to death annually in the past 5 years versus the number of abortions performed annually in the past 5 years.

I am actually an opponent of capital punishment, but to withhold support for the prolife movement because of misplaced concern over a handful of evil killers is something I cannot wrap my brain around.

You cannot distinguish between an innocent life, and a guilty one? That seems to be the Catholic Church's 'reasoning' here.

Death Penalty USA
* Number of executions in 2001: 66
http://www.westernprisonproject.org/PrisonIndex/Section_1/DeathPenalty.html

Abortions USA
*700,000 in 2001
http://www.cnsnews.com/ViewCulture.asp?Page=/Culture/archive/200301/CUL20030114b.html

I can see where this would present a real moral dilemma for the Bishops in Oregon what with almost 70 felons killed in 2001.

Roe v. Wade. 45 million and still counting.
