Hey Xena,
Do you think that the Democrats feared criticism from women for not confirming these judges (Owen) and Brown (soon to be confirmed)?
I believe this had something to do with "The Deal"--but I wanted your opinion.

I disagree.
They drug all these nominees around by the nose for 4 years.
Women, black, hispanic and even southern peckerwoods too (Pickering and Pryor).
They are above race/gender politics unless practicing it.
They made their deal because they knew they would lose the judicial filibuster "tradition of 4 years" so they found enough silly Pubbies with their own agenda lead by Queegiac to pull a win of sorts from a certain loss.
The Dems don't feel squat about identity politics unless they can exploit it.
