Inquiry Finds Some Quran 'Mishandling' (Barf alert)
AP ^ | 05/26/05 | ROBERT BURNS, AP Military Writer

WASHINGTON - U.S. officials have substantiated five cases in which military guards or interrogators mishandled the Quran of Muslim prisoners at Guantanamo Bay but found "no credible evidence" to confirm a prisoner's report that a holy book was flushed in a toilet, the prison's commander said Thursday. Brig. Gen. Jay W. Hood, who commands the detention center in Cuba, told a Pentagon news conference that a prisoner who was reported to have complained to an FBI agent in 2002 that a military guard threw a Quran in the toilet has told Hood's investigators that he never witnessed any form of Quran desecration....(get your barf bag ready) Allegations of Quran abuse have stirred worldwide controversy. After Newsweek magazine reported earlier this month that U.S. officials had confirmed a Quran was flushed in a toilet, deadly demonstrations were held in Afghanistan, although it is not clear what role that story played in sparking the violence. Newsweek later retracted its report....(last line of article) "We've also identified 15 incidents where detainees mishandled or inappropriately treated the Quran, one of which was, of course, the specific example of a detainee who ripped pages out of their own Quran," he said.

What is amazing is that this utterly insane defense of Newsweek is that libs will convince themselves that it is true.

Perhaps we could put this in the context of the beheading of Daniel Pearl.

The infidel guards weren't wearing rubber gloves, and they didn't wrap the book in a towel?

Remember to buy 'Quran' brand toilet paper and you'll never worry about Quran 'Mishandling' again.

Mishandled? I think not. Discounting the PC garbage which they think will keep us from more terrorism, Islam is not a religion. It is nothing but a cult begun by an individual with a severe personality disorder. There are those who pay these so-called Islamists to attempt to create a religious war in order to destroy Christianity. Rid the world of Christianity and specifically, of the Roman Catholic Church, and the powers that wanna be can rule the world.

This is such a complete non-story. I could see the media feeling the need to report if Koran desecration was written U.S. policy and happened deliberately and repeatedly. But the fact that over the course of several years and several hundred prisoners there may have been a handful of cases in which a Koran was inadvertently knocked to the floor is simply NOT a news story and simply not worth the harm caused by the fact that it will be reported ad nauseum and exaggerated in the Arab world to the point that most Muslims will believe the Koran was routinely desecrated.

This is simply NOT a story. And the media's usual argument that they don't make news, they only report it is complete BS. Millions of things happen every day all over the world. They are not all newsworthy. The media CREATES the news. They create it every day. And they created this wholesale.

I'm disgusted.

Could someone please tell me why we should give a damn if the koran is/was desecrated. It's not like these ragheads are going to hate us more! If it bothers the MSM...so what!

At least we don't have to worry about the towel heads desecrating the Bible of American prisoners. None are allowed in Muslim prisons.

I don't care if they burn the damn thing, it represents the hate of our enemy. I have NO respect for Islam, and I don't care if it is used in birdcages.

I would bet a dime to a doughnut that anyone who has a quran (intentionally lower case) and packs it in their luggage has their holy book handled by someone without their white gloves. I guess the answer is come out with a version that fits in a condom. The book mark can fit in the tip.

Seems we are increasingly losing our right to practice freedom of Religion in our own country and nobody does a thing about it but the aholes are all up in arms over 'mishandling' a book.

The solution is obvious; we should not provide copies of the Qur'an to prisoners. They have memorized it anyway. Don't even touch the foul thing.

The irony here is that these are probably the best treated "POWs" in the history of warfare.

I see the liberals have found their holy relic.

Sure, they've got condoms, gay sex, and aborted fetuses - but nothing compares to the holy Koran in the malformed liberal brain.

The same people complaining about the "mishandling" of the Koran belonging to TERRORIST'S PRISONERS are the same people who trash MY RELIGION on a daily basis! They can kiss my *ss. I really don't care if they flush the TERRORISTS themselves! These people want us DEAD. Why should I care if their "religion" is being "respected"?!
