I can't believe they haven't tried the obvious solution...

Cranes go up, cranes go down... fire the sucker up and literally "lower the boom" to the ground.

That would waste fuel. It's not a big deal, he will come down alive eventually.

It is a jack-up type of crane. It is a lot of work to lower the horizontal boom. If the vertical section is anchored to the top of a building, then the most it could be lowered is the height of the building plus about 20 additional feet above the anchor point of the building.

Actually, it's sort of humorous that Atlanta is stock-still because some idiot won't come down off a crane. What the hell are the POleece waitin' for.

I know the south has it's own slooooooow pace, but this is really pushin' it!
