Maybe this is a way to dodge the lawsuit from that Italian restaurant he stiffed.
He'll claim "exhaustion" forced him to skip out on the reservations without the courtesy of cancelling them.

In other words, he sucked all the publicity he could out of this story while it was still front page news. If a comparable disaster would hit somewhere tomorrow, he'd be there with as much vigor as a meth-head with an eightball and a fresh pack of U-100's.
