The main difference being: the Church of Jesus Christ was moved by the Holy Spirit; the religion of Islam is motivated by a far different spirit.

And history is still His Story and that is why Islam will join Communism on the ash heap of history...

...but maybe not until millions die.

My biggest fear is the anemic weakness of the western church.  If we are not "filled with the Holy Spirit" as was the early church, Islam may be a viable alternative to a perverse generation (perverse connoting crooked, not straight, a generation that has lost it's way).
