See, here's the problem. Republican kids enlist because they want to serve their country and it's the right thing to do. Democrat kids used to enlist to get all the freebees and never figured they'd actually have to do anything to get them, like risk their lives. Now that half the country is each, the recruitment pool has been cut in half. SOMEBODY is still enlisting, but you can bet it's not democrat kids.
Couldn't have anything to do with a constant negative drumbeat from the MSM. Or the negativity of MTV, VH1, Comedy Central, Leno, etc. Or the negativity of rock musicians and rap artists. Or the negativity of movie stars and hollywood. Or the negativity of high school teachers, or administrations that refuse to allow recruiters. Or the negativity of college professors and administrations that refuse to allow recruiters, or ROTC on campus.
Naw. It's all Rummy and Bushs fault.

You are absolutely correct. After 20 years in the Army, I could've written that myself. All the liberal college kids wanted were the educational benefits and the paycheck. You should've seen them scurry like rats from a sinking ship when we were mobilized for Desert Storm! And there were plenty of "quickie" retirements handled for the old, seasoned Socialists amongst our ranks as well.
In fact, one of them that was a First Sergeant and skeedadled while the rest of us did our duty, now sits on the uber-liberal Madison City Council. What a surprise. *Rolleyes*
There was a time in living memory when there were even patriotic Democrats in Congress, and -- yes -- Democrat kids then enlisted for the same reasons Republican kids and Independent kids did.
