Saudi Columnist: We Must Discuss Why We Hate the Jews
MEMRI ^ | May 27, 2005 | Hussein Shubakshi

Posted on 05/30/2005 12:56:59 PM PDT by Alouette

In the London Arabic-language daily Al-Sharq Al-Awsat, Saudi columnist Hussein Shubakshi discusses the Arab world's hatred of Jews. The following are excerpts from the article: [1]

"The Extent of Tremendous Hatred of the Jews is Baffling"

"…The extent of tremendous hatred of the Jews is baffling. Therefore we ask, 'Why do we hate the Jews?'

"The immediate answer will be: 'No, we don't hate the Jews, we hate the Zionists.' [But] this is nonsense. We don't hear [preachers saying in their sermons,] 'Oh Allah, destroy the Zionists, the Zionist enterprise, the offspring of Herzl, and the Basel plan.' Is our current hatred of the Jews the result of the political situation in general and the Palestinian problem in particular? This is a pivotal and important question, and must be answered honestly.

"A few days ago, one of the Saudi newspapers did a nice inquiry on vestiges of Jews in the Al-Ahsaa region in the Arab Peninsula [in eastern Saudi Arabia]. Is it possible that there were traces of Jews in the Arab Peninsula, and that they lived amongst us? The answer is, of course, yes. There is much evidence proving that in more than one Arab country, [Muslims] lived normally alongside Jews, and that [the Jews] studied and worked like the rest of the residents of that country."

The Prophet Muhammad Had Good Relations with the Jews

"Therefore, the matter requires another explanation. This is particularly true since the Prophet Muhammad's relations with the Jews were clear. He made agreements with them, stood [in respect] at the funeral of one of them, maintained relations with them, married a Jewess, and entrusted his armor to his Jewish neighbor and asked about this Jew when he was missing and sick.

"Our religion permits us to eat the Jews' food, trade with them, and marry them. So what is the issue? If we know the scope of the problem, and the true reason why the Jews have become this great monster, and [if we understand] how this has spread to the point where they have become the reason for every catastrophe, then we will be able to understand the idea of dividing [human beings] into groups …

"There are Saudis who studied with Jews, were taught by Jewish teachers, and were treated by Jewish doctors. They tell good and normal stories about relations with the Jews – relations that broke the emotional barrier built long ago regarding relations with the Jews.

"It should suffice us to hear a Saudi saying: 'My son was treated for cancer by a Jewish doctor, nobly and morally, and there is someone who wants me to hold hatred and animosity [against this Jew] in my heart, and to curse him at night. I will never do this. There is a huge difference between the contaminated Zionism that abuses Palestine and its sons and carries out atrocities and crimes, and [this] divine religion and its sons.'

"Once, the Muslims knew it, and treated the Jews according to [Koranic] verse [7:159]: ' And of Moses's people there is a party who guided (people) with the truth, and thereby do justice. ' Jews attained top posts in the Umayyad state – like [Rabbi Moses] Ben Maimon, who attained the post of first minister to the caliph [sic].

"I know that a subject like this launches a debate – but, with Allah's help, it is a debate whose aims are good. There is great benefit for us in such a reexamination – and an answer to the question of why we hate the other."

The reason they hate the Jews is because the Koran commands them to hate the Jews.

The problem is cultural: Generally speaking, Jews are progressive and Arabs are regressive. Jews maintain a *natural* polarity between Man and Woman. I cannot think of any aboriginal society or any backward culture that suppresses/enslaves women to the outrageously brutal degree that Muslims do.

well if you read the history of Mohammad from non Muslim and non Jewish sources, some of the first followers of Mohammad in Medina were in fact Jewish rabbis and in fact it was the pagans that was the mutual enemy of both the Jews and Mohammad's very small sect at the time, of course in those days, everyone was attacking everyone, tribal territorial thing you see........

however after about 10 years, Mohammad's sect was not growing very fast at all and according to one history I read, the rabbis were beginning to rethink whether Mohammad was indeed a prophet or even the Messiah so theoretically, the Jewish rabbis turned on Mohammad, either they abandoned him or the Muslims will claim the Jews breached their agreements with Mohammad and thus the Jews aren't so favoured anymore - then you have text in either the hadith or the Koran, I think it is the hadith where Mohammad says something like drive all the Christians and Jews out of the Arab peninisula - now some Muslim scholars will tell you that the Wahhabis take this out of context, Mohammad said this in the context of the war being waged at that precise time in history because supposedly the Christians and Jews were attacking Mohammad and friends [arguable, sounds like Mo man was doing a lot of offensive attacks on his own, after he decided to convert by the sword and go into the bandit business when persuasion wasn't working] but guys like Bin Laden say this means there are to be no Christians and Jews ever living in the Arab peninsula, dhimmitude be damned......

so the poor Jews have the multiple whammy, they betrayed Mohammad and they killed Jesus, according to some.....

the reality is also that under the Islamic Empire, the Ottoman Caliphate, which wasn't as religious as most people might think, that Jews were treated better in Muslim countries, perhaps with the exception of Arabia, certainly as compared to European countries and the colonies in North America, and in fact some historians, again of the non Jewish and non Muslim variety, said that the Christians and Jews living under early Muslim rule were able to find a way to leverage their dhimmi status to their advantage, to a "special" status and many Jews and Christians become quite wealthy despite having to pay the dhimmi tax, they tended to be the merchant class in these countries, now no doubt there were exceptions to even this, there are cases of Jewish massacres all through the history of Islam at various points - at what point, dhimmitude began to mean true second class citizenship, I don't know,

it is argued by Jewish historians that the Dome of the Rock was in fact built by an Arab ruler for the Jews to replace their destroyed temple but was coopted by later Muslims
they argue that the Dome of the Rock in no way resembles a mosque, mosques having had and still have very certain definable characteristics, which the Dome does not have any.......

It's clear. One is either a follower of mad mo or one is not. He does not go far enough; he'll have to reject mad mo, his doctrine and his hatred of Jews and Christians, which is the right thing to do (to reject mad mo). It's black and white. These are mad mo's words:

[5.51] O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.

The Hadith Volume 4, Book 52, Number 176:
Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar:

Allah's Apostle said, "You (i.e. Muslims) will fight with the Jews till some of them will hide behind stones. The stones will (betray them) saying, 'O 'Abdullah (i.e. slave of Allah)! There is a Jew hiding behind me; so kill him.' "

The Hadith Volume 4, Book 52, Number 177:
Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Apostle said, "The (Final) Hour (last human battle on Earth) will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. "O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him."

The Hadith Volume 2, Book 26, Number 595:
Narrated 'Aisha:

(the mother of the faithful believers) I said, "O Allah's Apostle! We consider Jihad as the best deed." The Prophet said, "The best Jihad (for women) is Hajj Mabrur. "

The Hadith Volume 2, Book 26, Number 594:
Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet was asked, "Which is the best deed?" He said, "To believe in Allah and His Apostle." He was then asked, "Which is the next (in goodness)?" He said, "To participate in Jihad in Allah's Cause." He was then asked, "Which is the next?" He said, "To perform Hajj-Mabrur. "

I am stunned. It is time this was discussed. People need to look at why they hate, when they decided to ignore the teaching of their own religion. When did this come about? It did not start with the Palestinian problem, it started before. What brought it about, and isn't it time it was ended?

Muslims hate the Jews because both groups started with nothing and today the Jews are largely successful, free and self-determining while the muslims are ignorant, impoverished (despite the oil) and politically shackled.

If the Arab world had emulated the Israelis in 1946 instead of attacking them, the mideast today would be a thriving paradise instead of a war-torn sink hole of hatred.

60 years ago the worlds Jews had nothing but a dream and the arabs had nothing but exploitive governments and sand. Today the Israelis have an economy and a culture to admire and the arabs have sand and anger.

There is a huge difference between the contaminated Zionism that abuses Palestine and its sons and carries out atrocities and crimes, and [this] divine religion and its sons.

How fine can you split this hair? Or better still, how circular can you make this argument?

This "contaiminated" Zionism exists because of anti-Semitism in other parts of the world. Because of the Jews' ancient and traditional roots in "Palestine" it was chosen as a site for Jews to build a sovereign nation.

BUT...

Anti-Semitism, plus jealousy and lots of other things, made the local population fight the Jewish immigrants.

This man thinks it's logical to not hate Jews but to hate Zionism. If you don't hate Jews, why is it wrong for Jews to immigrate to "Palestine"? Why is Zionism "contaiminated" if you don't hate Jews?

Round and round we go....

Does he ask that at Saudi parties? Talk about a conversational show-stopper....

The Prophet Muhammad Had Good Relations with the Jews

If Muhammad had good relations with the Jews, then don't tell us what his bad relations were like.

"Mohammed said in his Hadith: 'The Hour [Day of Resurrection] will not arrive until you fight the Jews, [until a Jew will hide behind a rock or tree] and the rock and the tree will say: Oh Muslim, servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him!'"

Yeah, part of the article is warm and fuzzy, but here's the proof this guy's still drinking the koolaid. The problem in "Palestine" isn't Zionism, it's the radical Palestinians (Hamas, Islamic Jihad, etc.) that set themselves against any compromise with Israel and desire to drive the Jews into the sea - where is the condemnation of terroristic Islam?

The Awakening of Fred Nerks...(or, read the biography of the 'prophet' see tagline for link to free pdf.)

Arutz Sheva - IsraelNationalNews.com

The Life of Muhammad
by "Fred Nerks"
October 26, 2003

You learn something every day, don’t you? I did, yesterday. The wife’s mother passed away not long ago and Myrtle and I finally got around to packing up her things to give to charity. She used to read a lot. I suppose that’s where I got it from, I’ve always got my nose in a book. History is what I like. That’s why I kept The Life of Muhammad, written by The Rev. C. Sell. Myrtle’s Mum must have had it for ages, the binding is a mess and no wonder, it was printed in 1913. I stayed up half the night to read it.

First of all, I think what Sell had to say, way back then, is interesting, because he quotes from ancient Arabic sources all the way through and there are so many footnotes, including in Arabic script, that he must have done an awful lot of research. I also noticed that Sell was a Fellow of the University of Madras, who wrote nine other books on the subject of Islam.

I’m no great scholar myself, but for the life of me, I can’t understand why anyone on earth would call this business of Islam a religion - not after what I just read. Right from the start, that strange fellow Muhammad was a worry. Did you know he used to have fits? It was said ‘he was destined for great things’ when he was young because, as we know, they didn’t understand mental illnesses then. When he was ‘indisposed’, for example, his nurse always placed him into a darkened room and covered him with scented, wet cloths until he felt better. And he heard voices. In his head.

His mother didn’t have much time for him either. She gave him back to his wet-nurse to care for when he was only two years old and then she died, so he never saw her again. His uncle looked after him for a while, but he died too, and left him an orphan to live in the streets.

We all know, don’t we, how important those early years are and how young people can fall under bad influences. This young fellow ended up with the beggars on the steps of a temple somewhere - I think they worshipped a moon god then - and they annoyed everyone else because they were loud and dirty, so they were often driven out by the folk of the town. But they always came back.

There were a lot of Hebrew people living in the area and he listened to them. Somehow, he must have picked up on the idea of a more powerful god than the moon god and that black stone they worshipped. And they had idols, way back then. He soaked up everything he heard and started to preach, which made the townsfolk even more angry.

Now it seems he heard about Jesus, too. And his mother, and the holy ghost. And all the prophets in the Old Testament. So he took a bit of this and a bit of that and hashed it all together and that made him a prophet, right? And prophets need followers. He had nine to start with. They hung onto every word he said. But he needed more than that, to prove how his messages were coming from a ‘divine’ source, so he would go to a cave somewhere nearby and listen to the words of some archangel. Frankly, I think he was listening to himself. But it worked. Everything was suddenly from a ‘divine source’ and he had it made.

Right. Now Muhammad got messages whenever it suited him, or when he needed them, and he said some nice things in the beginning. He had to, to be allowed to stay. But as he got more powerful, because he got more followers, who were robbing camel caravans and killing the merchants, he got nastier and nastier. He could get a message from the archangel to kill anyone he liked. Simple.

As time went by, any reasonably decent thing he said in the past was outdated. Abrogated. That was a new word for me. But I know what it means. It’s like saying, I take it all back.

Why would I bother to write this for you, you might ask; so I’ll tell you. Because all this was written down by Sell in 1913, before oil, before the Saudi Kingdom, before Arafat and everything you had to put up with since. And the first thing that stands out in the career of this monster - and he was one, make no mistake about that - was when they cut the heads off eight hundred Jewish men at Medina and buried them in a mass grave. The women were divided as slaves amongst his gang. Lord knows what they did to the children.

And the angel came then too, I guess, because Mohammad said this is what he heard:

“Oh prophet! We allow thee thy wives whom thou hast dowered, and the slaves whom thy right hand possesseth out of the booty which God hath granted thee. And he caused those of the people of the Book who had aided the confederates to come down out of their fortresses, and cast dismay into their hearts: some ye slew, others ye took prisoners. And he gave you their land, and their dwellings and their wealth for an heritage.”

How very convenient.

For a very long time, for the life of me, I couldn’t understand why the followers of this killer-cult, even today, want to see every Jew on the planet dead. Then it hit me. After I read that book. You folk are the Living Witness of their foul misdeeds since Muhammad and his gang of plundering, murderous cutthroats first killed and stole everything you had, including the words of your wise men. And what does a criminal do, if he can?

Remove all the witnesses from the face of the earth, of course.

I’ll leave you with the Rev. Canon Sell’s final words: “Muhammad thus stands out as unique, amongst the founders of those religions which prevail at the present time amongst large populations, as the one who established his position by force of arms; and by claiming divine authority for so doing, has made such a procedure a sacred law, when circumstances allow of it, for all lands and all time.”

“According to Muslim theology, Muhammad’s actions were the result of supernatural guidance, a divine impulse within him; therefore, they were the deeds of a sinless and perfect man, to which all Muhammadans must conform. They form the highest ideal and the most perfect conception of life which Islam can present.”

Maybe it’s time to have that book I have just finished reading printed again. The time might just be right. It was printed by The Christian Literature Society For India, and they have learned a thing or two about Islam in India, too, haven’t they?

I’m no prophet myself, but it’s been a real revelation, I can tell you. Whoever it was that said Islam is a religion of peace must take the cake for the biggest lie ever told. And you don’t need to be a scholar or have a Phd to understand that.

"The Hadith Volume..."

You do know that Mohammed was dead when this stuff was written? That the stuff his wives testified to was left out, as they were only women? Like Jesus, we have only the testimony of his followers as to what Mohammed said. I'd say Jesus's followers did a better job of reporting his words than Mohammmed's folowers, but from the way I see some people talking about it, I sometimes wonder. Not every Muslim goes looking in the Hadith for reasons to hate people, and Christians should not be doing that with the Old or New Testaments for that purpose.

There are so-called Muslims out there who believe exactly what you posted, like Bin Laden and his lot, but to claim they are all alike sounds really "liberal" to me.

I used to think that these jihad baboons had an inferiority complex, but their actions have convinced me that they are merely inferior.

Yeah, regarding the hadith I do know that as it's tradition attributed to him but it's held as "holy" by no small number.

"…The extent of tremendous hatred of the Jews is baffling. Therefore we ask, 'Why do we hate the Jews?'

He may as well have added Christians too!

A quick peek at the Quran may be a very good place to start. Anyone capable of reading in the language it is written in can likely trace the logic there in as much time as it takes to hit the first batch of passages out of hundreds.

I sure hope the "final exam" is harder than this!

Nice post. Mohammed resented that the Jews did not follow him as the Messiah.

"But as noted, the Jews rejected Mohammed's overtures and rejected Islam. Consequently, the rejected self-proclaimed Apostle had bitter feelings towards them, writing (Koran Sura 2:83): "The curse of God is on the infidels whom God gave a Book [the Koran] confirming what they [the Jews] had already received [in the Torah], but which they turned their back on." As for the Moslem tradition concerning Mohammed's vision of a night journey to Jerusalem on his horse Burak, reported in the Koran, Sura 17, without any mention of Jerusalem - the 230-meter Arabic inscription around the Dome of the Rock, supposedly built to celebrate Mohammed's alleged ascent to Heaven from that Rock of the Foundation, makes no mention of that alleged journey."
