News making the rounds in blogville is that something strange is going on in Venezuela concerning Hugo Chavez. Rumors from heart attack to death are being murmured. Could Communication and Information Minister Andres Izarra be the Latino version of Baghdad Bob?

Let me come right out and say it: I hope he is in heaven now. Or where ever!

Believe it or not, yesterday they said he was attending a volleyball tournament!
Now he's "spending time with his family." Hopefully, with the ones in the family crypt.

Actually, I have it from a very good source that he died from stupidity.

This may just be something out of Basic Dictatorship 101. They often stage mysterious disappearances for a few days or a week to encourage the discontented to foolishly act out. Once they show their hand, it is easy for the dictator to pop back in and eliminate them. It is popular way to manage dissenting opinion when you are a murderous scoundrel.

This may just be something out of Basic Dictatorship 101. Good point. He's done this before, IIRC - there is some suspicion that the 2002 attempt to overturn him had basically been orchestrated by him to root out his enemies.
He's probably off visiting some fellow dictator somewhere - Cuba, NK, Iran, take your pick.
