Authorities in Frederick County, Md., have begun investigating a report of repeated incidents in which eighth-grade boys fondled and taunted first-grade girls on a public school bus last fall. The mother of one first-grade girl said she first learned of the fondling accusations this month and is criticizing school officials for not alerting her. Detective Willie Ollie of the Frederick County Sheriff's Department said he has opened an investigation into the case.

Yes, but do you want your kids to watch it?

Ooh hoo, baby! That would be sweet. Sign me up for that one. Eva and Terri dancing around in thongs while the Mets spank the Yanks in October. Nice. And throw in a Ferrari for good measure.

"Hitting is essential, yet should be used rarely. It takes common sense in the application, and that's why liberals oppose it so much, they lack sense."

I don't believe it's essential, but I concede that there are those situations where it may become necessary. I'm afraid, though, that in my experience, it's not just liberals who lack sense when it comes to the spanking issue. For every idiot parent who won't set limits, there seems to be one who constantly hits out of anger and frustration and then insists it's for the good of the child. I worked in daycare/aftercare during my college years and saw way too many of both types.

***"He couldn't believe [school system officials] had not told me,"***

Hate to say it but do not ever trust anything the School Transportation Dept tells or doesn't tell you. Their jobs are on the line. My daughter went through verbal sexual assault several times and the manager tried to excuse the boys by saying "their hormones start acting up at this age". None of my daughters have ridden a school bus since. And I pay taxes that provide them transportation to school. Riding a school bus gives your kids an education that I really don't think you want.....certainly not for elementary students.

Nope - not behind the shed but in the center of town or the mall.

Only because they're being constantly reminded how bad homeschooling is, and how great public schooling is.

Well, they should know that is not the case - its the Big Liberal Lie. Or one of them. I'm not sure where they'd be hearing that from anyway. I'm out of the MSM loop - intentionally - so I hear just the opposite. I'm all for parents chosing alternate forms of education - I'm just tired of hearing how homeschooling is the only option 'good' parents choose.

Same goes for proponents of public schooling.

Agreed. I've mentioned a few times now (and been hammered for it!) that the extremists on home schooling sound a lot like the left does on public school. Both know better than parents what is best for their children and there is only one choice.

The Public education system is dumping ground for the academicly challenged and mentally ill (as far as teachers go.) Don't get me wrong...there are many good teachers, but at the same token those many when compared to the whole...are too few.

I don't know if I'd go to that extreme, but education majors DO have one of the lowest average SAT scores of all college majors.
