PARIS (Reuters) - Airbus said on Wednesday deliveries of its 21st-century flagship, the double-decker A380 superjumbo, would be delayed by up to six months, taking the flourish off one of the most trumpeted aviation launches in decades.
Disgruntled airlines, at least one of which intends to seek compensation, announced the delay in delivering the largest passenger jet ever built just weeks after its maiden flight.

Boeing vs. Airbus (good news) ping!
Someone needs to find a picture of a white elephant...
I guess France needs to up their work week again.
That's spelled E-E-E-E-E-E-W-W-W-W-W-W-W!
In other news, the Boeing 747 is available for shipping and production!
Love your tag line, so true, so true. In other matters, I wonder if airbus has found a way to keep the tails on their aircraft?
Could it be that the new entries into the EU are wondering just how much money is being poured into this aircraft ? - money that will support the German / French industry, but will not do them one bit of good ?
Maybe some Fench workers were trapped in the fuselage while napping and Airbus has to disassemble the aircraft to free them...
FYI..I suspect this is a staged event by Airbus and the airlines in question..In order to generate inital orders, Airbus had to promise steep discounts to the airlines that first signed up to buy the plane. AI thought they had the market all to themselves, and thus could dictate future prices. But since Boeing offers several viable options, to avoid other airlines demanding the same price discounts, AI "promised" the first buyers an impossible early delivery date, with penalties built in...in effect, a discount, not labeled as such..
HA HA
Or to get the stench out.
You have a naturally devious mind. It must come in handy...
These penalties/discounts are going to make their break-even point impossible to meet.
Not exactly a white elephant, but it does show the history of big airliners built across the pond.
It's too bad...the few Airbuses I've flown on were a tad more comfortable than the Boeings...but I have heard that Airbuses have some real safety issues. Not good.
There's lots of pictures, but most of them are copyrighted.
Final assembly is done in France right? Wouldn't a nice big strike be nice just before deliveries are set to begin?
