"Yesterday, Sharpton contacted me to say he's eager to accept the sort-of offer to (as Limbaugh put it on his own show Friday) "let [Sharpton] guest-host the program for, like, 30 minutes at a time while I am sitting here critiquing him."

I'm hoping you mean "heir" not "air". We've got enough "air" already.

It would be a good laugh though. I really am not a Sharpton fan, although he should really consider stand up comedy....he's quite good at that. Ironically Rev. Al comes up with a few interesting tidbits, like the Democratic party not taking black voters for granted.

Reverand AL?
Media "whore apparent"?
To: RS
Problem is that Rush gives the callers who are hostile to him plenty of uninterpreted time to hang themselves with. (unlike Hannity and Savage who scream over the hostile callers an cut them off)
If Al gave hostile callers enough uninterrupted time they would hang Al.

I doubt if this will see the light of day. Most of us would
vote with are fingers and change the channel when Al came on. How would you like to be a sponsor and find out your time was in Al's slot? Rush would lose $ and I don't think it could last long before he would pull plug.

"Problem is that Rush gives the callers who are hostile to him plenty of uninterpreted time to hang themselves with. "
Correct, In most cases Rush gives them plenty of time, and unprepared callers will in that time say something that is not explained right, Rush then takes his turn and drills on that one statement, then does NOT allow the caller to return to clarify.
I didn't notice this at first, but when you look for it, it's quite obvious - part of the "role of the caller is to make the host look good" philosophy.
I wonder if he will let or teach Sharpton do the same thing ?

Apparently the omWhores are holding Rush to his word! Rev Jaaaaaackasss has already said that he'll accept Rush's invitation and hold him to his word...yikes! Did Rush fumble the ball here?? No flaming, just asking?

Re sponsors; that's demonstrated BS. See CCCP's shows featuring Rush led and followed by ... ... nobodies. Listeners are not their customers, but 'sponsors' are. Listeners preferences as homeopathicly diluted into invisibility.

"Did Rush fumble the ball here?"
I doubt that it will hurt Rush at all. It might actually bring in a few new listeners. Those who tune into hear Rush will probably enjoy hearing Sharpton hang himself. Those who tune into hear Al might learn a thing or two from Rush.
One thing that is certain. Rush knows what he is doing.

"Rush knows what he is doing."
That's why he added the qualifier " IF he really intends to learn something" - since that would be Rushs' opinion he can always say he never intended to learn, and withdraw the offer before it begins, or cut it off at any time.
