You know, I was on a plane from Minneapolis the other day and I sat next to a couple of older guys and their wives headed to Reno to do some gambling. They were from northern WI and were telling me about how their property values and taxes just kept going up with all the "immigrants". We also talked about frivolous lawsuits and they were actually more conservative on that issue than I am. I held that if someone got sick and didn't know the risks or if the company didn't tell the risks when they knew them then they should be paid (not an obscene amount, of course). They said screw those guys they should have known the risks anyway. Anyway as we're landing one of them asks me if Nevada is a Red or Blue State. I said it was Red the last election but I don't think that will happen again. To this they reply "I don't know how in the hell we elected that idiot twice." I was only mildly surprised since my own great-grandmother is the same type of yellow dog democrat. Must be something about the depression/FDR generation.
