Sounds like a kick in the ash for poor Homer.

When Granddad died we had him cremated and spread his ashes over his garden...Now we have the best tomatoes since, well since grandma passed away eight years ago.

"...she's hoping his family comes forward to claim them."

You would think the SA would be making an effort to contact the family. It should not be difficult to find them.

A baseball urn holds the remains of Lily Moy, who loved baseball. Behind the baseball is a scene of television stars, because she loved TV.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Update from Dailyherald.com:

Family members of Homer Oglesby are glad he’s back with them after a granddaughter retrieved the man’s ashes Thursday morning from the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in Waukegan. [snip]

Along with ashes came a certificate from the company that did the cremation. It says Oglesby was born in Homer, Ga., and died at the age of 90 in Waukegan on Nov. 11, 2003.

Celeste Oglesby asked her husband where the ashes were because they wanted to scatter them in his back yard, but apparently the box of ashes was scooped up by the Salvation Army along with several other donations made after cleaning out the home of Homer’s deceased daughter.

Looks like Homer made it back home.
