I know I will get flamed for this, but the "I hate republicans and everything they stand for" quote IS out of context. He went on to say something about how Democrats should try to emulate their tactics. The "I hate Republicans" thing was just a prelude to his main point.
Let me put it this way. I hate Howard Dean and everything he stands for, but he is right when he says he was quoted out of context.
And this is not to imply that all of his obnoxious quotes are out of context.
Gee, why doesn't that make me feel the least bit better?
"I know I will get flamed for this, but the "I hate republicans and everything they stand for" quote IS out of context. He went on to say something about how Democrats should try to emulate their tactics. The "I hate Republicans" thing was just a prelude to his main point."
How is it out of context? Because it was a prelude to something else he said? Absolutisms are seldom out of context, and Dean MEANT exactly what he said--and nothing he said afterward qualified that meaning.
"I hate republicans and everything they stand for"
is NOT out of context, because the context would not change his statement of hatred for Republicans. out of context is more like taking ...
"Howard Dean is a homosexual rights advocate's dream candidate"
into
"Howard Dean is a homosexual"
Dean's 'hate' comment was a telling comment to make - he runs on emotion.
Frankly, I *dont* go around hating Democrats or saying that. I'm more about what I believe ... and consider Democrats a dangerous threat to the things I hold dear because of what they do and believe.
