The highs of 47 Deg. F. recorded at Winnemucca, and 67 Deg. F. at Las Vegas, NV, were the lowest high records for June in all of Nevada since records have been kept.

Obscurantist Weather Study is a pet subject of mine.
I have weather charts for 1998 from a small island called Pulau Neira in Maluku, Indonesia tucked away somewhere in my records. But nothing beats the humidity charts for 1963 in Dapto, New South Wales, Australia for interesting late night reading.

Global warming. Or cooling. Or whatever.

On this day:
In 1976 fourty foot waves smashed into Gogha, India. A most excellent quality of warnings limited casualties to ~70. The waves had been a result of a cyclone. Dredging of the Bhvaganar harbor ceased for several years afterwards as storm runoff from the Kansa River continually washed sediment into the dredging area.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate facts like these as I am also a weather nut and live near the Nevada border.

Oh, I forgot to mention that it was in 1999 when that record lowest daily high for all of Nevada was set on this day. Morover, on the day before, the 38 Deg. F. seen at Mt. Wilson, CA broke the previous June record by 7 Deg. F.
Also, on this day in 1825 New York, NY harbor was severely damaged (after the same was done to Charleston, SC on the 3rd) by a hurricane. Many lives were lost at sea.
On this day in 1995, firefighters in Topkea-Tecumseh, KS didn't have far to fight lighting caused fire. Lighting struck and ignited their fire station.
