WASHINGTON — "FOX NEWS SUNDAY" HOST CHRIS WALLACE: And good morning again from FOX News in Washington. Let's begin, as always with a quick check of the latest headlines.

Former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein is likely to go on trial within the next two months. An Iraqi government spokesman says Saddam could face up to 500 charges but will be tried on only 12 well- documented counts.

Iraqi and American troops have uncovered a massive underground terrorist hideout west of Baghdad. The recently used bunker was air- conditioned, stocked with food and high tech military equipment.

And airport security in this country could be improved without great expense according to the Department of Homeland Security. A new report suggests putting additional armed guards at checkpoints and more devices to check for explosives.

President Bush and other top officials reacted sharply this week to charges by the human rights group, Amnesty International, about severe U.S. mistreatment of prisoners in the war on terror. For more on the controversy, we talked earlier with the executive director of Amnesty International USA, William Schulz

KEYWORDS:
"WALLACE: Now, Secretary Rumsfeld did, we believe, approve putting prisoners in stress positions for prolonged periods of time, stripping them naked and even using dogs to frighten them.

Mr. Schulz, do you have any evidence whatsoever that he ever approved beating of prisoners, ever approved starving of prisoners, the kinds of things we normally think of as torture?

SCHULZ: It would be fascinating to find out. I have no idea...

WALLACE: Well, wait a minute. When you say fascinating to find out, you mean you don't...

SCHULZ: But I do know that what you've just described, the use of dogs, stress position, that constitutes a violation of the convention against torture. That in and of itself is a clear violation.

WALLACE: If I may repeat, sir, do you have any evidence that he ever approved beating any prisoners or starving any prisoners, the kinds of things we think of as torture?

SCHULZ: Amnesty International has never accused him of approving starving of prisoners. We have never suggested that prisoners are starving, Chris. You're bringing something in completely out of the blue that we have never suggested.

We know, however...

WALLACE: You just called him a torture architect, sir."

Ahhhh...... The sound of testicles being ground into the dirt with a pair of golf shoes.

Thats gonna leave a mark......

What's going on at Gitmo? (Inmates playing soccer, volleyball, reading Agatha Cristie in Arabic)

"The best-behaved detainees are held in Camp 4, a medium-security, communal-living environment with as many as 10 beds in a room; prisoners can play soccer or volleyball outside up to nine hours a day, eat meals together and read Agatha Christie mysteries in Arabic. "

Not a bad interview....for Chris Wallace.

Amnesty International doesn't have an iota of creditability anymore. Karl Rove is just so clever. And oh yes, it's Bush's fault! :)

I can't believe this thread is not at 200+ right now. This interview showed what total utter crap AI is. I don't give a damn what Springsteen,Bono,or Sting have to say about it either.

I loved this interview. Proved what a phony Schulz was. Chris Wallace did a good job on him.

"schulz should be stripped of his u.s. citizenship and deported for being so stupid."

Especially for donating to Kerry's and Kennedy's campaigns. Maybe now we know where Kerry got his so-called impeachment memo? Probably got it from Amnesty Int'l.

I think Schulz is using the political capital that Amnesty International has built in the past to attack the Bush Administration. Why is he doing this? Perhaps John Kerry is sending some of Teresa's money his way if he sings the right song.

In the interview, notice how he spins his original words:

"High-level torture architects"
words modified: "apparent high-level architects of torture."
words further modified: "alleged at least to be architects of torture"
and finally modified further: "alleged architects of torture"

This is a tactic of the left. When their words have them pinned down, they soften their meaning or deny saying "those exact words."
