Clinton Counsels Chirac on EU Constitution

By Associated Press June 6, 2005, 7:40 AM EDT PARIS --

Former President Bill Clinton urged French President Jacques Chirac on Monday not to be discouraged by the travails of the EU constitution, counseling him to listen to voters' concerns and "go back to work."

Clinton said France's rejection of the landmark charter doesn't spell the end of the European Union. In a meeting with Chirac, Clinton talked briefly about France's "no" vote last month on the constitution, which was followed by a resounding rejection in the Netherlands. The referendums triggered a crisis of confidence in the 25-member EU.

"I told (Chirac) not to be too discouraged," Clinton said, recalling that he faced similar setbacks as Arkansas governor when he pushed for a new state constitution. Clinton said it was very difficult to convince voters to approve complicated documents like 448-article EU charter. "So I don't think it means the end of the European Union," Clinton said. "I think everybody should just take a deep breath, listen to the concerns of voters and go back to work."

He said he spoke with Chirac about his work to fight AIDS and his travels as U.N. special envoy for tsunami recovery.

They also talked about a conference that Clinton will sponsor in September modeled on the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Copyright 2005 Newsday Inc.

I counseled Chirac as well, I told him to stick all 448 articles where ...

By comparison, the US Constitution has 7 Articles, and duly elected legislature members add the laws to the framers document with processes that somewhat still resemble representative democracy. It's obvious the EU does not trust the people, so why should the people trust them? Looks like they don't.

Clinton's advice should be free - the supply is infinite and the demand is infinitesimal.

Europe...Arkansas...no real difference. One has a couple dozen languages, and the other you have no idea what anyone is saying. One has a few billion people, the other a couple million. Go on Chirac, listen to Slick Willie.

Former President Bill Clinton urged French President Jacques Chirac on Monday not to be discouraged by the travails of the EU constitution,

There he goes again, working against the best interests of the United States.

Has any other former President met so frequently with the leaders of foreign nations? I remember he did some kind of whirlwind tour of Europe prior to the war in Iraq. Makes you wonder what he's actually planning in these private meetings.

It doesn't seem to occur to the MSM or Eurocrats that Clinton was an abject failure as President. Why take advice from someone who accomplished nothing. Might as well get advice from Jimmah Cartah on foreign affairs while they're at it.

This Clinton dipsh.. wants to run the UN so badly, he can taste it. Lets hope he has a relapse and is unable to fill that whim. We read all about this pysco ex president yesterday here, and found out what a lot of the medical community thought about his eight years in the White House. He sat at the desk, and did nothing while the terrorist network built itself into an enemy of evil worldwide. He sat for eight years and allowed others to crow and croon about what a super guy he was. He sat and did nothing while a Republican congress did the work that he, Clinton took credit for. He DID NOTHING except put a stain on the office of the Presidency that will forever be there and taught every ten year old school kid what oral sex is all about. Yea we really need counsel from this guy! Lets hope France and Clinton's buddies there listen up!

And just think: Millions of people are lined up to follow these two.

The great miracle is that the world's not in worse shape than it is!

------
Precisely. The "EU Framers" are socialists with far more interest in their own empowerment, than the interests of the people. Nothing new when it comes to socialists. One only has to look at WHO is trying to force the EU "constitution" on Europe to understand what they are trying to do --- the people have wised-up none too soon. And The good Brits just shoved another one up the "EU Framers" tail pipe -- GO BRITS!!!

The whole EU scenario is very much like our far-left Dems and what they really want to do to America --- they are both SOCIALISTS!!! .. followers of Karl Marx...

> There he goes again, working against the best interests of the United States.

If you asked him, clinton would say he envisions a time when the United States of Eurabia and the United States of America will work in a spirit of cooperation under the auspices of the United Nations.

Pretty soon the distinction among them would be lost. This was the goal of his presidency. Kind of makes you sick, doesn't it?
