It could be that there is some substance to the argument that Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) is plotting to eliminate the State of Israel by means of the right of return. It is true, more or less, like the prediction that Syrian President Bashar Assad is ripe for a peace agreement in return for the Golan Heights.

Ya'alon is complaining that even after four years of fighting we have not succeeded in convincing even Fatah, the Palestinian ruling party, to recognize a Jewish state that will exist here for all eternity.

Why should the right of return be less sacred to the Palestinians than the Temple Mount is to the Jews?

I think Israel's reaction to this should be: Come and take it, if you dare.
Having eyes, they do not see. Ears, they do not hear.
I say, give Syria the Golan, and relocate all of the liberals in Israel at the base of the heights.

"I say, give Syria the Golan, and relocate all of the liberals in Israel at the base of the heights"
Yes, if all leftists had to live within artillery range of Islamo-fascists they might not be so glib and naive.... then again, nothing seems to get through to some people.
Not only that, but why is Israel continually expected to give back territory that the Arabs lost in all the wars they started? I know they don't want to rule over millions of Arabs (mainly in Gaza) who hate them, and they sure aren't going to give all those people Israeli citizenship, but still: why is Israel always expected to just hand back land Arabs lost?
These types are the descendants of those that complained to Moses in the desert: "you brought us out here to die...we were so happy being slaves in Egypt, etc., etc., etc." [never mind about the parting of the sea], the ones that got all wobbly: "the inhabitants of the land are giants and they'll crush us, etc., etc., etc." [never mind the Lord's promises], so the Lord let all of them wander and die off in the desert, except for Joshua and Caleb.
It's a control thing, it's as if Elder and others think they have SOME control over the situation by accepting all blame and believing that through subsequent diplomacy peace will come. "Pardon me for breathing" and all that.
If the Arabs didn't have oil, they would have no leverage. They don't export anything meaningful (except terrorists). If they didn't have the oil, not only would the Israeli-Arab conflict not be on the map but the map would be pockmarked from dropping bombs on any place even suspected of terrorism.
