I guess (I've never really listened to Kiss), but their covers and lyrics are all Maiden.

Slayer are all Republicans... I want proof of this.

OK, there's the song, "Dittohead" about how the justice system is broken and criminals go free.

Then there's "Silent Scream", which is decidedly anti-abortion.

Oh yeah, and then there's "Payback". Pretty much describes what the lyricists has planned when the socialists are finally beaten:

"You've got a f***ing catheter in your brain
Pi$$ing your common sense away
When you draw first blood you can't stop this fight
For my own peace of mind - I'm going to...

And then goes on describing what kind of payback he wants to give them for screwing up our country. Heh heh heh.

I've also read that some interviewers have complained that they can't do an interview with Slayer because the band had Rush Limbaugh turned up so loud that it drowned everything else out.

This isn't proof of their ideology, but during Gulf War I, our carrier pilots would blast Slayer tunes to psyche themselves up for dishing out death.

People who like metal (like myself) are generally NOT touchy-feely liberal pussies, either. We like music that quickens the pulse, gets the adrenaline going, and we're almost always anti-authoritarian, and VERY patriotic.

I've turned my teenage sons on to Iron Maiden. They can't get enough. Especially "The Trooper", "The Prisoner", "Aces High", "Flash of the Blade", and "Back In The Village".

I think my oldest loves "Flash of the Blade" so much because he's in the process of learning the way of the sword, Japanese-style.

Oh, and by the way, "Aces High" is a GREAT song to play when you're on your way to work.

;-D

"I'm not sure about their actual politics, but some of Metallica's songs seem very conservative. "

I'd say:

Don't Tread On Me

Liberty or death, what we so proudly hail
once you provoke her, rattling of her tail
never begins it, never, but once engaged...
never surrenders, showing the fangs of rage

don't tread on me

so be it
threaten no more
to secure peace is to prepare for war
so be it
settle the score
touch me again for the words that you'll hear evermore...

don't tread on me

love it or leave it, she with the deadly bite
quick is the blue tongue, forked as lighting strike
shining with brightness, always on surveillance
the eyes, they never close, emblem of vigilance

don't tread on me

so be it
threaten no more
to secure peace is to prepare for war
so be it
settle the score
touch me again for the words that you'll hear evermore...

don't tread on me

so be it
threaten no more
to secure peace is to prepare for war

liberty or death, what we so proudly hail
once you provoke her, rattling on her tail

so be it
threaten no more
to secure peace is to prepare for war
so be it
settle the score
touch me again for the words that you'll hear evermore...

don't tread on me

I'm only 24. I'm into lots of different types of music. My older Cousin turned me on to Iron Maden. "The Trooper" is probably my favorite song.

Oh, and "Two Minutes To Midnight" is probably the best anti-abortion song ever.

Iced Earth are conservatives? Cool. They are my favorite Iron Maden ripoff band :)

Actually, now they are a Judas Priest rip-off band. They have Tim "Ripper" Owens on vocals.

SSSSSSSSLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

They are by far my favorite band. War Ensemble makes me just go crazy. Silent Scream is a haunting song that really hits you about abortion.

Slayer put out a shirt that read "Pay Back is a Bitch" on the back in red white and blue for 9/11 or something. I wish I could find it.

Yeah, Maiden is good. Personally, I think Paul Di'anno had a better voice, but the songs are better with Bruce Dickinson. "Revelations" is one of my all-time favorite tunes, period.

Oh no, not Iron maiden... ;)

Bruce's voice would drive me up a f'ing wall after two or three songs. Which is kinda weird being that I could listen to fates Warning "Awaken the guardian" all day long.

Still, the best metal was anything by metallica, from kill 'em all to master of puppets. (Anything after master of puppets has been a let down for me).

Hey, any rock bank worth their salt is to go against the BS flow and these cop outs -- like every suck hole commercial hollywood half breed 'wannabe' ever-so-un-urban-suburban BS band that sold their souls to Kerry Inc. are they worst -- did I mention any sissy bands? Well, none worth mentioning but those that are worth their balls, that tell the truth and stand tall, not bought out out by image man... respect that!
