Solaris 10 I have found to be better overall as an OS than Red Hat. However Linux does have a place in the market.

I was never too keen on Solaris's package management. But if you're not too keen on x86 I would probably take it over RedHat. After the nightmare they put me through with Solaris7 for x86 It will be a few years till I give them another shot at an intel server..
