Do you really think you're helping your cause?

What helps my cause is getting more constitutionalist judges appointed and confirmed.
It's Tuesday and I've not heard a thing about the other judges who were so kindly spared by Mr. McCain and his gang.
Less talk, more action!

Which is what the entire article is about. Let me guess. You made it to about the second para. Go back and take special note of the name Priscilla Owen.

Specter has not indicated which way he would go if the option came up for a vote.

Specter better go with the Republicans. He owes Bush big time for backing him for Chair of Judiciary, despite much opposition. Bush would look like a fool for trusting Specter. Bush won't allow that to happen.

But I'm afraid the President was rather foolish, trusting Specter...

There are too many who would rather see blood running in the street rather than a skillfully inflicted wound which is just as deadly.

We got what we wanted, albeit not by the stick-it-in-your-face, smash mouth ultimate humilation method, which many wanted.

It's far better to get what you want and remain statesmanlike than to resort to street fighting, IMO. Image is everything to the public and the public doesn't like seeing anything that looks like bullying.

I hate the "Extraordinary Circumstances" escape clause, and Im furious at the 14 and McCain for intervening the way they did, but I will concede the point; Frist DID stand his ground. Further, he was blindsided by a bunch of self centered RINOs whose sense of Government responsbility is below that of the Senate Old Boy syndrome..

Charming little damage control article.

Good to see the children at NR continue to be a reliable propaganda venue for the dissembling weaklings currently in the "majority" in the Senate.

I think I'm not the one hip-shooting here, but I read it again to make sure I didn't miss something.
This is just a history lesson.
I specifically mentioned the other two judges.

Last week they all left town (I guess) and nothing was done to keep the ball rolling. Politics is about momentum as well as any thing else - and Frist is losing even the small momentum he got from The Deal.

I may be ignorant of the details of the process, but I'm thinking I would have liked to hear of votes being scheduled for Janice Rogers Brown and William Pryor.

Again:

Point-by-point analysis vs. childlike tantrums and ranting. Guess which side you're on!

They've been scheduled for weeks.

Coop, my friend, there are too many on this forum who take it as an article of faith that Republicans will always whimp-out. They cannot fathom any other situation and frankly, are miserable if Republicans are successful.

The Libertarians I can understand. They want the RATS back in power and running wild in hopes that it will cause an armed insurrection that will create a power vacuum that they can fill. They won't get leadership any other way.

The others, the "Conservative Purists", strike me more as masochistic. They seem to get their rocks-off in misery and complaining.

I don't blame First for any of this

But I do blame the 7 clowns and I will NEVER forget what they did

Hmmmm there was no mention of the Free Republic die hard Frist bashers having any influence on events of the days in question.

It would seem that any Free Republic influence must have come from Jim Robinson and his efforts to make the constitution prevail.

Que Randy Quaid ("Independence Day"): "I been sayin' it and sayin' it----ain't I been sayin' it?"

This was a WIN. Anytime, EVER, you get something tangible (judges confirmed) for "promises" or even "principles," well, the history of American compromises (1850, 1991 budget deal) and even foreign relations (Treaty of Versailles) is that whoever gets something tangible ALWAYS wins.

Why was this response pulled? It shows up in my pings, and I see nothing objectionable or an FR rules violation.

Take your ball and go home and pout awhile. Fortunately we have another.

You can still come play if you want.
