Mr. Corzine apparently has a lot of skeletons in his closet - e.g. Mr. Norcross.

If, that is, the Repubs have the testicles to pull them out, which may be expecting too much from them.

Based on what my contacts in New Jersey are telling me, the race is too close to call between Schundler and Forrester.

Lonegan is probably the best choice philosophically, but he has no chance to get elected - too poorly known, not enough money and just with local experience. A vote for Lonegan is a wasted vote.

The other contenders, like Lonegan, are far behind.

That leaves Schuster and Forrester.

Forrester is being actively supported by the notorious RINOs - Tom Kean and Lewis Eisenberg.

For those of you not wellhead in the Byzantine intricacies of New Jersey Politics, Tom Kean is the former President of Drew University. Tom Kean was also a governor of New Jersey. Tom Kean doesn't believe the Second Amendment gives people the right to keep and bear arms. During his governorship, the same ferociously hostile New Jersey gun laws which impede law abiding citizens on the ownership of modern guns was extended to muzzle-loaders. Tom Kean was also a supporter of liberal social causes. He supported the concept of an "apology" and "reparations" for slavery. He invited his "old friend" Bill Clinton to speak at Drew University when Clinton ran against Bush I. He delivered a scathing speech on the topic of "governmental betrayal" on 9-11 THE VERY WEEK PRIOR TO THE RELECTION CAMPAIGN of Bush II. Kean invited Clinton back a Second Time to speak at Drew just before he retired from that University. And, of course, Mr. Kean, a silver-spoon in the mouth old-time moneyed liberal and fancied modern aristocrat, chaired the 9-11 Commission and issued the famous comment that people should "butt out" when Jamie Goraleski's (spelling?) position on that Commission was rightfully questioned, as well as when the the blatant bias of the Democrat members of the Commission was attacked by the public.

As for Lewis Eisenberg, as I have stated before, he is another moneyed liberal. Formerly an coworker of New Jersey Senator Jon Corzine's at Goldman-Sachs, a campaign supporter of Fritz Mondale, the liberal Democrat for President years ago, Eisenberg has founded a PAC to support liberal Republicans and oppose conservative Republicans. He was also a political associate of former RINO Governor Chrissie Whitman in New Jersey. (Chrissie has just written a new book "Its My Party Too" in which the Rockefeller Republican, termed a "birdbrain" by our girl Ann Coulter, attacks the conservative wing of the Republican Party). Whitman is also an unabashed "Rockefeller Republican". (Nelson Rockefeller was a liberal RINO and ex-governor of New York who walked out of the Republican convention in 1964 when Barry Goldwater was nominated.)

Given all that, it would be insane for any conservative or moderate Republican in New Jersey to vote for anyone but Schundler for governor.

A Forrester victory would put Tom Kean, Chrissie Whitman and Lewis Eisenberg in strong policy-making positions vis-a-vis a Governor Forrester.

Did you notice that Dean has arms like a troll??

You know, they look too short for his torso.

Isn't Murphy down there in the polls with Caliguire, Lonegan and those other guys?

Is he conservative or liberal?

How did they ever think they could get away with Photoshopping Schundler into a Howard Dean photo?

I agree with your RINO-Doug analysis. I think the best way to handicap this race is: if the establishment-fringe candidates (Murphy-DiGaetano-Caliguire-Schroeder) poll around 15% and the conservative-fringe candidate polls 5% or less, Bret wins.

Bret doesn't have the money behind him for advertising that Forrester has.

I have received one mailshot from Schundler and nine mailshots from Forrester. The one I got from Schundler was a solid platform statement. The nine I got from Forrester's campaign have been a mix of:

two (2) that focussed on a 30% property tax cut promise.

seven (7) that were a negative campaign against Schundler, and which quoted liberal news sources for its "proof" of Schundler's (supposedly) terrible record.

That Forrester would run a negative campaign against someone who might become his own party's candidate speaks volumes. That he is solidly anti-RKBA and Bret is largely pro-RKBA is also clear.

That's exactly why you posted that comment.

I get so irked at those type of comments. I remember all these "Posthumus can't win. He'll lose by 15-20%" comments back in 2002(The actual number was 4). I think they cause people who support the candidate but don't have incentive to stay home and not vote. If we got 110,000 Bush voters who stayed home, we would have won.

There was almost the same thing in 1990. Jim Blanchard was impossible to beat and had a 18 point lead in most polls, narrowed to 13 on election day. The impossible happened and he lost to some then unknown named John Engler.

If the democratcs can fight and win gubenatorial elections in Wyoming, the GOP can fight in Jersey.

Murphy is conservative, but can attract moderates too...not sure how he does it.

Whoever does ultimately emerge victorious from the primary needs the full support of the Republican Party machine, unlike what occurred in the last gubernatorial race.

I have been inundated with mail, phone calls and e-mails from Forrester. If I hadn't already been for Schundler, the amount of money that Forrester is wasting on mailings would have made me vote against him, anyway. The 6th phone call on a Saturday morning was enough to turn you against anyone and there can be no doubt this guy will be a big spender, which translates to a big taxer. I think all the advertising could work against Forrester

Thanks, Zulu, for the post and history lesson that all NJ Freepers should know. If Tom Kean sent me a recorded message in favor of a reincarnated James Madison for governor, I'd even think twice about voting for the guy.

Kean's the worst, and there truly ain't a dime's worth of difference between the Christie Whitman/Donnie DiFrancesco/Tom Kean Republicans and the Florio/McGreevy/Corzine Democrats. NJ is a tough state for a Freeper, that's for certain.

Forrester, by the way, is firmly in the Whitman wing of the NJ Republican party, and for all you blind supporters of the Republican Party, yes, I would prefer to have Corzine as Governor instead of a RINO, pro-abort, anti-gun Pubbie like Forrester. Look at the damage that RINO's do--think of McCain's recent Senate maneuver, think of Rudy Giuliani's anti-gun, high tax and pro-gay stances, think of Olympia Snowe and all the other RINO traitors. With Corzine as governor, the Pubbies will fight him tooth and nail. With Forrester, we get left wing policies without a fuss. Great.

Not that Forrester can win the governorship: He got a six month headstart to build support, and still lost to Left Wing Fossil Frank Lautenberg in a 30 day sprint. We can properly blame the NJ Supremes for their egregious approval of the Torricelli/Lautenberg switcheroo, but the bottom line is the dopes in NJ still pulled the levers for Lautenberg over Forrester. He's a cipher, a nothing, a suit.

Plus, I still believe Bret can win. I voted for him today in Montclair, and I was the only guy voting. The place was dead. With low turnout, the committed conservatives who support Bret should have a great chance at winning the day.

So get out and vote for Bret!

1. NJ101.5, the GRIP puppet of the NJ Dems will bring in pinhead, perpetual losing candidate Murray Saubren to evaluate the race.
2. The NJ Conservative Party will run a candidate that will make Goldwater and Reagan spin.
3. The fraud farms of Camden, Newark, Atlantic City, Paterson, East Orange, Irvington, New Brunswick, and Perth Amboy will supply the necessary amount of votes to put any Democrat into office. Result: State Aquarium in Camden, Hockey Arena in Newark, Baseball Stadium in Perth Amboy.
4. "Budgie" Corzine will be given sweetheart interviews by such intellectual lightweights as Steve Abudatto and that other political guy reporter from NJN (Michael Arons?)
5. The NJ newspapers no suitable for even bird cage carpeting will forget about their investigations ***wink/smile*** into the Trenton cesspool.
6. The pro-terrorist poet laureaute will be forgotten about.
How to win:
1. Run on an anti-illegal immigrant platform informing that any institution that receives state funding will lose it if they don't conform with federal immigration law.
2. Reopen civil war era prison in the Delaware River to hold illegal immigrants for processing and send them back to nation of origin and invoice that nation for care. use illegal immigrant labor to do clean up projects.
3. By executive order, sever the link between school funding and property taxes.
4. non appointments to DEP, EPA and other non-essential government departments.
5. home is castle and force with force laws.
6. moratorium on mt laurel.
7. 5 1/2 day school week

Go Bret Go!!

I saw Bret yesterday in Hasbrouck Heights, We will be blessed if he's our next governor.

I live in an apartment that faces the Bergen Line train line and have my big Bret REFORM Governor sign in my window for all the commuters going to & fro' NYC to see. I think someone threw a rock at it last night because something hit my window and woke me up, but luckily they were liberal girly man and didn't even put a crack in the glass.

Sorry but Lonegan & Murphy have no chance. A vote for either of them is a vote for Forrester.

And come on now people, choosing Bret over Steve Lonegan isn't exactly like choosing Arnold Schwarzenegger over Tom McClintok, it's more like choosing Bill Owens over Jesse Helms which is more than good enough especially for New Jersey.

BTW, Bret looks nothing like Howard Dean
