If the Koran must be treated with such care as to be untouched by anyone but the killers, muggers, rapists and other maniacs at the prison, maybe the Koran ought not to be there in the first place: "What's a nice book like you doing in a joint like this?"Yet us "filthy kuffar" are deemed so unclean by the spawn of satan that we have to wear gloves to pick to this vile book?

Fancy meeting you here just five minutes after watching the President of Pakistan interviewed by our George Negus on Dateline - he says he was only too happy to send Liddi, the horrendously ugly one, off to the US after his security service had obtained whatever intelligence they needed. Was Liddi tortured? Negus wanted to know. Maybe, says Mushareff. We wanted certain information, and I daresay we did whatever we had to, to obtain what we needed to know. But what about his human rights, says Negus.
What about MINE, says Mushareff, the man is a dangerous terrorist, he was behind a number of plots to assassinate me, during which a number of people were killed. What about their human rights? What about the human rights of THEIR families? What are you suggesting that we do, coddle the terrorists and forget about the victims...?
OK. I paraphrased. But that was the gist.
Now, wait for it. The next question was about the desecration of the koran at Gitmo. The big man, the President of Pakistan who smiled when he (almost) admitted that he believed terrorists (fanatical islamists?) should be tortured to obtain information (I AGREE!) said he was shocked, shocked he says, to hear about the way the koran was desecrated...such behaviour would not win the US any friends in muslim countries...blah blah blah.
