A gooey Katie Holmes hinted last night that she and Tom Cruise — who has dated her for just six weeks — are talking about getting hitched.
In a bizarro appearance on "Late Night with David Letterman," Holmes, giddy and gushing, said her fast, furious romance with the movie hunk is burning out of control.
"It's hot!" she exclaimed.

This is one of the odder, scripted "event" courtships ever spun out of Hollyweird. I'm embarassed to admit, I watched Tom Cruise on Leno, and the body language, poor eye contact, gripping his hands together and wringing his hands... staged, staged, staged. Are the gay rumors getting play again, or does his box office really suck? It's one or the other, or both.

Holmes wasn't nearly so effusive when it came to responding to other queries — like the ones about her man being so much older and shorter than she is. "That's never crossed my mind," she told Letterman tersely when he asked about the age difference.
The height question was met with puzzled expressions before Holmes finally told the comic that she didn't know what he was talking about.
Liar, liar.
