Rock 'n roll as far north as Camarillo. Gentle rolling that seemed to come in 2 waves around 8:45 a.m. Pacific. Felt like a 3 or 4 from here.

Was in the Garage and two distinct rumbles, the second was a good little shake! Knocked a few things off the shelf here in North County...

From that map it looks like the epicenter was near the Palm Springs area.

AFTERSHOCK PROBABILITY REPORT
Published on Sun Jun 12 08:43:52 2005 PDT
Southern California Seismic Network: a cooperative project of
U.S. Geological Survey, Pasadena, California
Caltech Seismological Laboratory, Pasadena, California

Version 1: This report supersedes any earlier probability reports about this event

MAINSHOCK
Magnitude : 5.5 Ml
Time : 12 Jun 2005 08:41:46 AM PDT
: 12 Jun 2005 15:41:46 UTC
Coordinates : 33 deg. 31.91 min. N, 116 deg. 34.40 min. W
6 mi. ( 9 km) ESE of Anza, CA
20 mi. ( 32 km) S of Palm Springs, CA
Event ID : 14151344

STRONG AFTERSHOCKS (Magnitude 5 and larger) -
At this time (immediately after the mainshock) the probability of a strong and possibly damaging aftershock IN THE NEXT 7 DAYS is approximately 20 PERCENT.

EARTHQUAKES LARGER THAN THE MAINSHOCK -
Most likely, the recent mainshock will be the largest in the sequence. However, there is a small chance (APPROXIMATELY 5 TO 10 PERCENT) of an earthquake equal to or larger than this mainshock in the next 7 days.

WEAK AFTERSHOCKS (Magnitude 3 to 5) -
In addition, approximately 5 to 25 SMALL AFTERSHOCKS are expected in the same 7-DAY PERIOD and may be felt locally.

This probability report is based on the statistics of aftershocks typical for California. This is not an exact prediction, but only a rough guide to expected aftershock activity. This probability report may be revised as more information becomes available.

The chair was moving and bouncing underneath me, the house was creaking, the windows were shaking, water in the cats bucket was sloshing around and out.

What was interesting is that the cats were acting really freaky this morning.

We are in the Palm Springs area.

Never been in an earthquake. Does the ground move sideways? Up and down? Or does it feel like bobbing around on a boat?

I live in O'side, was up reading and felt it - rest of family slept right through. Not that big a jolt, really - house kinda rattled, that's all.

Gotta figure that folks out in Palm Desert and Indio felt it bigtime.

the dogs and car alarms go off in unison...

I thought the dogs were supposed to warn you before the quake. Animal ESP and all that.
