>>Most liberals are their own worst enemy

True, and they still fail to create compelling talk radio. One of Ann Coulter's books mentions the many failed liberal hosts (Hightower, Cuomo) of a few years ago.

Here's what I wrote on the debate politics board--I get into how liberals want to bring back the (un)Fairness Doctrine.
The subject was media bias:
----

There's a difference between bias in news reporting and opinionated talk radio/talk TV. You can say that CNN, ABC, CBS, etc. show bias in their news reporting (as shown in Bernard Goldberg's book BIAS). When Fox News has Bill O'Reilly, Hannity and Colmes, etc., on, they are offering opinion and commentary. [i.e., it's their opinions,
NOT a biased NEWS report]

Fox News and conservative talk radio were a response to the liberal media bias (hello Dan Rather) in this country. There was a need for it. Both entities are doing well in the ratings...Now Air America wants liberals to have their own voice on talk radio. If it's done well, they could also succeed. Realize that a)many liberal attempts at talk radio have failed before but maybe they can find "their Rush"), and b) "Rush wasn't built in a day". It took awhile for Limbaugh to get his audience.

The book South Park Conservatives pointed out that Limbaugh came along right after the Fairness Doctrine was repealed. Now, a talk radio station didn't have to offer both sides--they could put on a Rush and not have to also put on a Franken. Talk radio is a business and if a station feels Rush draws ratings and Franken doesn't, the government shouldn't force them to carry Franken as well.

Should the government force a country station to play hard rock as well? No...

Of course listeners are invited to call in and debate the host. Talk radio isn't news, it's commentary about news. Conservative-based stations have made their mark. Now it's up to liberals to do the same. The (un)Fairness Doctrine helped spur conservatalk, true. But many liberals want to bring it back because they feel it'll give them equal time.

But stations, given that situation, would rather not put controversial issues on the air.
It would cause a drop in ratings if they had to air some liberal hosts (by force).

So opinions of all types are welcome on radio but since it is a business, it's up to talk hosts and their producers to give us shows to entertain and enlighten. If they fail to deliver, so be it.

Al's radio program is played every night on Direct TV Sundance channel #549, run by Robert Redford and his friends. Al's show must be bad, because the TV part is awful. This dolt did indeed hasten and speed voters to reelect President Bush, and yes, you might say there is something in what those have said about keeping him around. I think Direct TV should hear a little about fair in their program schedule. Balance is not in their vocabulary.

Direct TV is owned by the same folks that own Fox News and the Fox Network...fair and balanced already.

We should blast Air America into Gitmo cells. That'll make 'em talk.
"Aiieeee!!! No more Franken!!! No more!!! No more!!! I will tell you about all the al Qaeda operations!"

If that is intolerent, so be it! Thank for the laugh! (Even my apolitical hubby thought he went over the line! I could tell by the tone of his voice when he responded.)

Perchance, do you have a narcissist in your family? In my case it's my mother. It took me decades to accept several truths about having a narcissistic parent:

1. There is no cure

2. Her family is not responsible for her happiness or unhappiness.

3. The more you give her, the more she expects and demands.

4. She firmly believes she is without sin.

5. She incapable of loving anyone. [When I say, "I love you, Mother", her usual reply is "Me too."]

6. She deliberately provokes, because other peoples' negative feelings are her power source. [Think of a narcisstic as an emotion stealing Dracula, feeding on the tears and cries of her victims. ]

I have spent years researching malignant narcissism to better understand the situation. She is also the central character of the historical fiction book I've been working on the last two years.

Now we know the truth...
Even the liberal air-heads can't stand listening to AL.

Isn't that special!

This would have been a great opportunity for the event host to use Regan's "I paid for this microphone" quote. That would have been a hoot to see.

“Now don’t leave!” Harrison urged the attendees. “We honored you. Now honor us. Don’t kill our party.”

How sad they had to kick him off for being so long-winded. How typical! Sad and pathetically self-absorbed.
