Why does Coke even bother advertising? It's a consumer staple now, like flour and sugar.

I always think the same thing when I see the "Cotton" ads...

I always think the same thing when I see the "Cotton" ads...

That's nothing....my power company, LIPA, runs commercials on television.

They can't stop advertising, not for a minute, advertising is a double edge sword. A self-destructive black hole. The bigger they get, the more brands try to take a swipe at their market share, so they have to advertise...more and more.

Nike is in the same boat, they still have to advertise, maybe not quantity, but they still have to come up with more clever slogans, niftier ad campaigns, bigger stars to promote their products.

If Coke or Pepsi stopped advertising, they would fade very quickly.

They can't stop, they are stuck.
