Interestingly enough, when I was over there last time, they are putting down digital cable services (they already have normal cable service but do not have these channels) in cities like Jinan (pretty small compared to Shanghai, only 4-5 million people) and with the cable services, they get Hong Kong news which typically openly criticizes Beijing and we saw quite a few commentors on this subject. I saw the same type of channels in Shanghai as well. They could easily remove the channel or the type of programming, but they don't. So either it's changing, or it's losing control or both.
Oh really. Why is the internet increasingly effectively censored in the PRC? How is it that they are brazenly hoping to make Australia an subordinate political colony if they are "changing"? Why is it that Fox's Hong Kong affiliate slavishly echoes the Bejing line? And as for your claims of Hong Kong stations criticising "Bejing" when, where, and how? Proof is lacking, and your word is not anywhere supported.
Let's see some proof that there are Chinese stations that attack Marx, Lenin and Mao, and oh yeah, Deng Xiouping, and the current passel of leaders, and communism per se. And then let's see what happens to any reporters that have the temerity to do so...and how quickly they land in a Laogai concentration camp. I doubt you can supply any proofs which support your thesis.
When an extraordinary claim is made, extraordinary proof is required.
