ABC13 Eyewitness News: Authorities say three girls were walking along Highland Boulevard Thursday morning around 10am when a man in a black van reportedly offered them candy. He kidnapped one of the girls. She is reportedly six years old. Her name has not been released.
The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male, wearing a boonie-type hat with a star on it and chinstrap

INVESTIGATORS WITH THE MONTGOMERY COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE HAS STILL NOT BEEN ABLE TO CONFIRM THAT A CHILD IS MISSING OR UNACCOUNTED FOR. THERE HAS BEEN NO REPORTS OF A MISSING CHILD IN THE AREA WHERE TWO CHILDREN SAW A CHILD GET INTO A BLACK VAN YESTERDAY MORNING.

INVESTIGATORS WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE SITUATION AND COMPLETE INITIAL INTERVIEWS AND BEGIN TO FINALIZE REORTS.

THE COMMUNICATIONS CENTER OF THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE IS WELL AWARE OF THE NATURE OF THE INVESTIGATION. THEY WILL NOTIFY INVESTIGATORS WITH ANY PERTINANT INFORMATION THAT MAY BE REPORTED.

THE MONTGOMERY COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE MANY LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES, MEDIA OUTLETS, VOLUNTEERS AND THE CITIZENS OF THE AREA FOR THEIR CONCERN AND COOPERATION DURING THE INVESTIAGATION.

WHILE THE INVESTIGATION WILL BE SCALING DOWN THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE IS COMMITED TO QUALITY SERVICE DELIVERY OF POLICE SERVICES AND IS PREPARED TO RE-INTESIFY THE INVESTIATION IF REQUIRED.

THE AMBER ALERT WILL BE CANCELLED THIS MORNING, BUT CAN AND WILL BE REACTIVATED WITH ANY CONFIRMATION OR NEW INFORMATION THAT A CHILD IS MISSING.
