Senator Durbin, I am writing concerning your recent comments regarding the detainees being held at Guantanamo Bay. There are only two possible explanations for your remarks, both of which are equally disturbing. Either you are a partisan political hack who will do or say anything to damage President Bush; or you, Sir, are a dimwit of titanic proportions who doesn't understand the difference between the Nazi and Soviet Death Camps - where millions were systematically murdered for political opposition to those heinous regimes or merely for their race and ethnicity - and the facility at Guantanamo Bay where terrorists are being held because they have committed, or plan to commit, terrorist acts upon United States citizens, presumably even those from Illinois. You managed, in your brief outbreak of oral diarrhea, to offend: our Military, equating them with the Gestapo and Concentration Camp Guards; Holocaust victims and survivors who (take a history class, for God's sake!), I assure you, faced far harsher conditions than that to which the terrorist detainees are subjected; and Japanese Americans, who were rounded up and interned for no other reason than their Japanese ancestry. If you are a mere political firebomber, to whom nothing is out of bounds if it besmirches the President, I urge you to consider what impact your words have on our Troops and our enemies. Already Al Jazeera is publishing your remarks as further evidence of the righteousness of the “jihad” – and Senator, that means more attacks upon American forces, and more American deaths. If you truly don’t see any difference in Dachau, Aushcwicz, and the Gulag – where people were either murdered outright, or worked and starved to death, and Guantanamo Bay, where people suspected of terrorist activities are being detained, questioned, and kept from attaining their goals of killing Americans, I tremble at the thought that you are shaping the laws that govern our nation. I’ve heard a lot about your colleague, Barack Obama. Some are saying that he’s the smartest man in the Senate. I’m not sure about that. But I am absolutely positive that he is the smartest man from Illinois in the Senate.

Here's mine:

Dear Dick--If you truly believe our armed forces are Nazis, then why would you allow them to protect your liberties and rights? Leave and find some country not run by Naizs.

Naizs = Nazis

That's what happens to your spelling when you drop to a democrat's intellectual level.

If our troops at Gitmo are Nazis, when will Durbin start the trials for war crimes? ala Nurenburg.

If Senate Republicans had any courage they would introduce a censure resolution. Then any RAT who voted against it could be characterized as agreeing with Durbin's comments.

They must be smart enough to figure that out, but do they have the courage to do it? (Never mind...rehetorical question.)

Dear Mr. Durbin:

As an Illinois voter, I am very disturbed by your remarks on the senate floor comparing our activities to those of the Nazi's.

Not only are you greatly exaggerating, but also by making statements like that you are putting our men and women who are on the front lines in greater danger.

I beg of you to retract those statements and resign as a U.S. Senator before more American's die. PLEASE rise above politics and realize the danger of your statements.

If Durbin thinks we're Nazi's, he should resign quickly so that the War Crimes tribunal will go easy on him, what with his position in the Senate and all.

While Dick Durbin's rhetoric is just the latest outrage in a series of outrageous comments coming from elected Democrat politicians, these damaging outburts aren't new. From Patty Murray's defense of OBL and his philanthropic/humanitarian adventures...to Jim McDerott's visit to Iraq, in an effort to present Saddam as an honest broker, the Democrats have chosen sides with the devil. One has to wonder just what their objective is, here.

How else can you explain liberals who are defending, what is an essence, the most conservative ideology on the planet? Everything Islam stands for...whether its extreme nationalism and cultural purity, oppression of women and children or its dictatorial theocracy were God is the State; everything this ideology espouses is generally diametrically opposed to by liberals. Yet, for some reason, these liberals (and elected politicians) have not only defended this culture, they've attacked those who have acted like the real progressives in an attempt to advance some sort of reformation or enlightenment.

This has got to be one of the greatest hypocrisies on the planet. The very social injustices that liberals claim to care so much about in this country are ignored by them in these oppressive regimes. The very religious conservatism they hate in this country is excused as part of their cultural identity in the Mid-East. At the same time that they promote Multiculturalism as this great Utopian ideal, they redicule anyone (especially the USA) for daring to bring "Islam" into the 21st Century...and introduce them to new cultures.

As we welcome waves of immigrants from other lands...as other countries are even invited to invest in our nation, liberals see such a reciprocation in the Mid-East as a violation of their ethnic purity. Hell, I recently read a journalist's article who called the terrorists, "heroic" for wanting to protect their cultural identity. Excuse me! If America were to ever embrace these same attitudes, it would be these same liberals accusing us of racism and genocide...just as they are doing to us now for simply wanting to defend our borders.

These people can't even smell their own hypocrisy they are so ignorant: They essentially despise this country for attempting to spread progressive values to the Mid-East...yet they don't see anything wrong with that policy as they attempt to do the exact same thing in this country. Just think about this for a minute: Liberals are defending, and in some cases, making excuses for the very hatred and violence emminating from the Mid-East; a hatred that is rooted in one of the most conservative ideologies in the world; a conservative ideology that is far more extreme than any conservatism in this country. Yet, liberals defend this Muslim ideology as they excoriate anyone who might dare to change or enlighten this culture. For this, they say, we are at fault and we deserve what we get.

On the other hand, liberals in this country are doing just that to our own culture, as they wage a counter-culture war against average Americans. They not only expct us to sit still as they tear down the very foundations of this country, they become violent when we refuse to accept it. The hypocrisy is amazing. They are telling us that we are guilty of the very sins that they have been perpetrating in this country...against its citizens, for decades. Hmm...I wonder if they would come to the defense of American conservatives (in the same way they've done Muslims) if we decided to put up a fight or strike back in defense of our culture. Why is it that Muslims are entitled to defend their corrupt culture and ideology (even with violence) while those in America who even use the Democratic process are described in the worst possible terms. No such language ever passes the lips of a liberal...as they go as far as even defending it and excusing the violence.

Will they justify my rage (at them and their attempts at reformation) some day in the future? The irony in all this, is that as liberals attack this country...and excuse the actions of radical Islam, it is liberalism and their ideals that are the greatest threat to Islam. For all the reasons and excuses they give for why America was attacked, they conveniently ignore that it is their ideology and "progressive" ideals that is the greatest threat to Muslim society. The fact that moderate conservatives in this country are looked at as the greater threat by liberals than the extreme conservativism of Islam, only indicates how dangerous liberals really are. In fact, their irrational hatred and spite for this country only helps feed the irrational hatred of our enemies...and justifies whatever attacks they may seek to inflict upon us in the future. And these people wonder why they hate us...and why I despise them?

good letter. Senator Durbin is stupid and incompetent and simply not up to the job of being a U.S. Senator. He should be censured in the Senate and every Republican including the RINOs should get up there and express their outrage.

Senator Durbin is following a carefully orchestrated plan of attack against the war on terrorism because any US victory is seen, by an large, as a victory for Bush and Republicans. Here the Senator alleges that US held prisoners are maltreated. The next accusation will be that there has been an ongoing slaughter of women and children. A unfortunate situation in which our troops are involved no doubt will eventually occur and this will be the next step to show our troops as wanton "baby-killers", JUST LIKE VIETNAM. The leftist have already tried to paint the US as baby killers, but that didn't stick because first, there was no evidence, and because the idea had not had enough time to percolate in the US psyche about terrible things we might be doing in the war. Now that time has passed, the left has found some thing to sink their teeth into, prisoner abuse.

Remember? The stories about the "Tiger Cages" that we kept captured VC and Regulars where kept in? How 'inhumane" these cages were and that the US was a signatory of the Geneva Conventions? These were the stories that old ALGORE wrote about when he was "in-country" and doing his journalistic thing. How long after those stories surfaced did we start to get a regular dose of "our troops are drugged up maniacs" looking for a thrill by killing local livestock, and then later, the villagers?

This is the template of Vietnam! The press will then look to Durbin as some sort of wise sage because he was one of the leading voices speaking out against US cruelty.

It is up to US, the American public at large, to make DAMN SURE that political stooges like Durbin are NOT allowed to keep their jobs! WE have got to get this individual to step down because WE bring pressure from ALL sides. Who ever donates to him, should be notified that you intend to take YOUR business elsewhere. Economic pressure is the key. Durbin and those who support him, including the Unions, need to know that this fight is bigger than just the next election cycle, this fight is for the lives of our soldiers AND the citizens who may become the victims of future terrorist attacks.

Now, I feel slightly better.

(Rant off)
