Help Wanted: New UN Secretary General - (thorough house cleaning needed or US should get out)

Dulles, VA – " Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell today released a congressionally requested report on the issue of United Nations reform. Freedom Alliance President Tom Kilgannon commented on some of the major findings in the Gingrich-Mitchell Report.

"While this report states the obvious – that that the United Nations is run by a poor management team with no oversight or accountability," explained Kilgannon, "the obvious was reinforced yet again as new allegations emerged against UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and his role in the Oil-for-Food scandal.

"Far from being exonerated in this matter," Kilgannon said referring to Annan's claim in March that the Volcker Commission cleared him of any wrong-doing in the Oil-for-Food investigation, "it appears that Kofi Annan may have influenced the awarding of a lucrative contract to the same firm his son worked for at the time and then mislead investigators when he was questioned about it," he said. "Kofi Annan has to go," Kilgannon said, "it is time for the UN to hang a 'Help Wanted' sign out front and get a new Secretary-General."

"Beyond the issue of leadership at the UN," Kilgannon explained, "the recommendations of the Gingrich-Mitchell Report attempt to put a band-aid on a fatally flawed institution. The panel recommends the creation of a 'Democracy Caucus' within the United Nations, yet we wouldn't have to create a Democracy Caucus but for the fact that the United States is paying billions of dollars a year to an institution which supports dictatorial, terrorist regimes."

The Report also recommends a rapid military reaction force to prevent genocide. "Not only does this recommendation bring us one step closer to a standing UN Army," Kilgannon noted, "but it ignores the fact that the United Nations grants membership and legitimacy to the dictatorial, terrorist governments which create famine, humanitarian disasters and engage in or encourage genocide."

"The recommendations of the Gingrich-Mitchell commission which address immediate managerial change and reform are worth implementing," Kilgannon said, "but the idea of building and strengthening the UN bureaucracy is contrary to America's sovereignty and long-term interests. A more thoughtful study is needed to assess how the United States can achieve its foreign policy goals outside of the leviathan-like UN system," Kilgannon concluded.

The mission of Freedom Alliance is to promote the American heritage of freedom embodied in our Constitution; to defend the sovereignty of the United States, her people and institutions, and to maintain the security of our country with a strong national defense.

Considering that the United States Senate has rejected John Bolton for the United Nations Ambassador, perhaps he can get the Secretary-General position. I'm sure he'd do well.

"thorough house cleaning needed or US should get out."

That is the wrong line of thinking. When your office is embedded with termites don't waste the time and effort rebuilding. Start with a new foundation and then build a new office to work from. Fire all the old termites who continually ate their way into a position to bring you down.

Great article.
Mitchell and Gingrich are pathetic, spineless enablers.
Voelker's nuts should be in a vise.
Kofi's head should be on a spike.
The U.S.A should be out of the U.N.
